Got a long weekend coming up in April. Going to likely spend most of our time in/around Fort Collins. Will hit some of our usual favorites like Funkwerks, Odell, Jessup Farm Barrel House, and probably New Belgium too.

Was looking for other brewery recommendations in Longmont or elsewhere nearby Fort Collins, maybe some lesser known spots.

Longmont - Left Hand, Oskar Blues
Boulder - Avery, Redstone Meadery (good change of pace)
Greely - Weldworks (one of the new up and coming places), Wiley Roots (very small place)
Boulder - Red Truck

For wine try Balistreri Vineyards in Denver. Hidden gem of a place. Very cool.

@Marshal Jim Duncan This is a good list to work off of. I'm dying to get to Oskar Blues but haven't been able to make it since we don't typically pass through Longmont. Weldwerks is another good recommendation.

I had some great beer from a brewery in Boulder around 2 months ago, but the name escapes me at the moment. I'll make sure to revisit this thread and add it later if I can figure it out.

I'm about worn out on OB's. It's across the street from my office, but if I have more than 2 beers there I'm paying for it later.

I recommend Wibby and Großen Bart. Multiple great beers in both places. Wibby has a very nice location and often have food trucks.

Left Hand is great also; was a mug club member there years ago.

Avery is definitely a good spot in Boulder.

Check out Horse & Dragon in FoCo. I've never been there but I like a couple of their beers and I've heard good things.

If you make it to Longmont, send me a DM. Always happy to buy a few beers for a fellow Poke.

Wibby and Groben Bart are in Longmont? I had Horse and Dragon down as a possible. Had never heard of it but saw something about it today. If we come to Longmont I will message you.

Yes, Wibby and Großen Bart are in Longmont. Wibby's thing is lagers and Großen Bart has a marketing schtick where every beer is named based on a facial hair style. Anker beard Amber might be my favorite Amber.

Thanks for all the recommendations, fellas. I was able to hit some of them and hit a few not mentioned it was kind of a short trip, and we wanted to drive up to Wyoming to hike on Friday. Also, need to keep in mind that my wife typically doesn't like a big hoppy beer, so. IPA's are usually out and she's not a big lager fan either. Sours, goses, the occasional kolsch, and just recently, stouts are her thing.

Still, we managed to hit 10 breweries in 3.5 days, by making mist of our stops relatively short and go in about 20 mikes of hiking. The rundown:

Thursday:
Verboten - Loveland
Loveland Aleworks - Loveland

Friday:
Altitude - Laramie,WY
Odell - Fort Collins
Rally King - Fort Collins
Jessup Farm Barrel House - Fort Collins

Saturday:
Funkwerks- Fort Collins
Back to Rally King

Sunday:
Maxline - Fort Collins
Weldwerks - Greeley
Left Hand - Longmont

I can honest,y say I didn't have a bad beer. Some were fairly unremarkable, but still fairly tasty. Maxline is a reallly cool space and had several nice ales. A raspberry Saison with basil was incredibly aromatic and quite tasty. They also had a boysenery habanero wheat that I liked even though I generally don't like wheat beers too much.

Rally King had a great Peanut Butter Stout called If You Give A Mouse A Stout, I highly recommend it. The had some sours that were good too. Fairly non-description setting,

Weldwerks: man, oh man. We mostly did tasters because we had to head back to DIA later. Neapolitan Ice Cream Sour (sounds awfully weird, I know) was freaking outstanding. They had a peanut butter and marshmallow Stout that was a little sweet for me, but good. Also a very tasty chocolate Stout called Fudgy Grahams that I'd like to get a full glass of another time.

Got to have a 180 Shilling at Odell along with a delicious St Lupulin and enjoy a fantastic packed patio full of sunshine, families and dogs. Got to see a beautiful full moon rise from the patio at Jessup Farm.

And enjoyed another great sunshiny late afternoon at Funkwerks, which is one of my favorite places to be.

Got to say, though the beer is fine, I was surprised by how nondescript Left Hand was; not bad, just kind of "meh".

Nothing stood out about altitude? Welderks is on my list and from your feedback - right up my alley.

The beer or the tasting room?

Milk Stout Nitro and Sawtooth Nitro are some of my faves but I would agree that most of the other beers there are nothing special.

I didn’t go to New Belgium. I’m not a huge fan of their core beers. I will say that the last time prior that I was in Fort Collins (2016), we did go and they had a number of lesser known or pilot beers that I enjoyed.

As a 90 Schilling fan (enjoyed one last night), the 180 has my attention. Go on.

I liked it. I’d say it only bears a passing resemblance, if that, flavor-wise to 90 Shilling. 9.6 ABV, not boozy at all to me, but really malty. The oak barrel cones through some, maybe a hint of plum.

Back in my drinking days, I enjoyed their Sunshine wheat. Fond memories!
