I hate to see NU struggle in any sport but if you are a basketball die hard frustrated by following NU, I suggest you tune in to watch the Chicago Bulls. What a fun team and fun season so far. A refreshing brand of basketball that some may call old school but I call fundamentally sound. The entire team plays hard at the defensive end, they move the ball and play unselfishly, they are able and willing to go to the hoop or shoot a mid range jumper rather than constantly shooting just 3 pointers. For a basketball junkie like me, It has been very enjoyable to watch.

The only time I was truly surprised/disappointed in this program was the year after the tourney. That collapse caught me by surprise. Other than that, in my 30+ years of lightly following NU basketball, I've come to expect them to find a way to lose.

I am going to ignore the atrocious record in close games from previous years. Clean slate.

Also going to ignore the New Orleans game, cause it should not have been close and we were much better. Finally I want to ignore the Providence game, because it ended close, but it was not really that close. Sure we kind of scared them a bit too little too late.

We are 1-3 in close games. We have 16 games to go. I am going to assume in 2 of those games we are blown out. 2 we win without being a close one. That leaves 12 close games. We go 6-6 in those and we end up at 9-11. Can we do it?

The Lady Wildcats in comparison know how to keep a lead, and to close it out. Such a much more enjoyable finish.
