Coming in from Fayette County

So in the above Lauren Sherrow hosted a LBGTQIA+ training for staff at Lafayette High School recently. She says the question above came in to her after. And this is how she addressed it :

Notice her response says says think of it as a health, wellness issue. On a related note, my 3rd grade daughter in Fayette County said their “wellness” teacher told them it’s ok if a boy wants to wear skirts. Then yesterday she brings home a form asking if we want her to be considered for a wellness leader … another words to endorse and teach other kids this philosophy. I believe the “wellness” program in Fayette County has many purposes. Thought you may want to know.

SMH. A city the size of Lexington should have some good private schools where education, not indoctrination are the focus.

Parents across the nation are removing their children from these WOKE public schools. I understand why.

We have thought about private schools if we could manage to afford it, but I think that’s the problem for a lot of people, especially if you have more than 1 child. Private schools are so expensive..especially in today’s economy.

Not gonna happen. I’ll counter by offering you a penny if you quit reading my posts (or there is that handy feature called ignore on here). And I’ll double it to 2 cents if you quit posting under topics I start.

You get what you vote for.

Looks like you voted for indoctrination.

Sad but true. Unfortunately this is no solace to those who suffer from the cluelessness of the majority in these areas.

Best advice is get out of blue states and cities. Move to areas with like minded people.

So is this a culture that SuperIntendent Liggins brought in from Texas??? Is State-driven?

The school board is part of this culture as well as the administration. They are all on board with it from what I see. We get emails from Fayette County Schools celebrating all of this. They have a full DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging) department. Superintendent Liggins is a gay man, so I don’t think he would take criticism of this culture very well. It’s also occurring within the Jefferson County Public Schools (and others I assume). I don’t know if it’s state driven as much as NEA, KEA, other unions, etc. The Fayette County school board chair also is a chair person for NEA..that explains a lot as well.

I find it ironic that the very same people who would not want a teacher with a same sex partner having their sexual orientation known to students because it plays no role in the educational process be the first to bring up that the superintendent is gay and his orientation makes district initiatives questionable and agenda driven. That line of thought is a big part of the reason a DEIB department is in place.

I only brought it up because the other poster questioned if liggins was on board with this when the poster asked did liggins bring this from Texas. I think at that point it’s very reasonable to bring in the fact that he is a gay man and under his watch they are cultivating a culture such as the lgbtqia+ culture that I mention in my original post. I say to each his own on how they live their lives but I don’t think any of it should be in the school systems.

For all intents and purposes Hank is a thread fart. Tourists toss him peanut butter crackers down by the waterfront because he pretends to be a disabled Ukrainian child but he's actually a club footed midget from New Jersey grifting his way down the coast. He would have starved a long time ago but for his uncanny resemblance to Mesothelioma commercial actors.

Would you allow a lesbian to teach your elementary age daughter?

I don’t mind but if the students ask, then she should probably lie and not tell them she has a wife. It really is better if they all just go as Ms. and not Mrs. so the kids don’t have an idea if they are married or not.

It seems strange that a leader shouldn’t be questioned. Hardly progressive.

I’m just going to say in 1991 I had an openly gay teacher in my gifted program. I’m talking full on gay as hell, flamboyant and everyone (parents and students) loved him.

Didn’t turn me ***** and I even moved to San Fransisco after college.

But hey we get a post here every couple of months about some female straight teacher actually grooming ******* kids and people fall all over themselves to debate the fuckability of her.

So you folks tell me what the real problem is? If you don’t like young people feeling safe and comfortable in who they are…go homeschool your kids and shut the holy living hell up about it.

Here's what I gathered from those emails listed in the OP.

1. She isn't comfortable hiding information from parents.

2. She doesn't say "schools know best" or better. In fact she allows that cultures have more say about that. And let's be fair for a sec, some parents are absolute idiots or negligent and the schools are the only place some kids feel safe.

3. Teachers should not HAVE to out their students to their parents. If little Jimmy wants to be Jane, then by all means let it happen at school. If you were to tell some parents, it could end poorly.

4. Research says that using kids' preferred names is a positive thing and reduces the chance of suicide.

What exactly is the quarrel here? If you don't know that your own kid is trans or leaning that way, then you're not that great of a parent, IMO (the OP message doesn't say that. My opinion)

What's not covered, if I'm reading it correct, that if a parent asks the teacher about the whole situation, can the teacher still keep it from them? That seems less than ideal.

If you have a problem with someone wanting to use a different name, keep that in mind when you watch a Thomas Mapother movie or listen to a Robert Zimmerman song.

Noone cares who the teacher is sleeping with. People should absolutely care what's being taught to kids. Kids absolutely should not be taught anything of a sexual nature whatsoever.

Finally people should not have to pay private school tuition because their hard earned tax dollars are paying for school already. Instead leaders, at all levels, should stop introducing kids to sexual content of any kind.

I’ll remember that when they teach Romeo and Juliet.

Jesus Christ some of ya’ll are why we ended up with abstinence only sex Ed and then bitched and whined and clutched your pearls about teen pregnancy rates and single mothers.

Edit to add: And in my high school honors Freshman English class we watched Romeo And Juliet, the sixties version, with full on titty’s out. No one said a word.

The ridiculousness of the teacher's thinking this is their role aside, what the catpaw who's who of liberals being snarky and liking posts don't realize is that ******** like this is going to damage the public schools significantly over time. Good parents are going to continue pulling their kids out and more and more states (like Iowa did this week) are going to pass laws redirecting funding to parents to use in the education of their choice due to pressure. Good schools and good teachers are going to suffer because liberals have no line of activist behavior that they think is too far. And the teachers are already suffering from lack of support above on real issues like terrible kids hijacking their classes with very little recourse.

Oh **** off with this “good parents” ********.

You know what good parents do? They love and support their children. They accept them for who they are and hopefully when they leave the nest you’ve done a good enough job where they’re good people capable of making good decisions in life.

You know what isn’t a good parent? This ********.

That perspective is from 10+ public school teachers I know. They are miserable with more important issues like behavior but also seeing some their "good kids", their words, being pulled out. My kids are out thank goodness. But go on with your simplistic virtue signaling and idiocy. Like I said, you could not post a behavior that the lefties here would not excuse.

I don’t really know how I feel about this subject, but out of curiosity how old are your children?

Oh yes. Your anecdotal evidence totally makes it the hard and fast truth! Stop the god damn presses!

This isn’t a political question dumbass. It’s a basic humanity question. And I know where folks like you stand in that regard. So yes, please, go take a flying leap.

10 and 13. Boy and Girl. I think my wife and I have done a decent job so far. They’re seemingly happy. They don’t totally think I suck yet.

But if one of them came to us and said “I’m gay” “I’m trans” our first reaction would not be “oh ****! Oh no!” It would be “I love you no matter who you are”.

That’s what a good parent does.

The explosion of very young kids identifying as trans and non-binary is "humanity". Good lord. Yeah I will leap out, not much getting through to you. I support public education, we have a lot of great teachers who don't need these distractions.

I’m guessing in the name of “love and support”, you would be ok if a kid of the opposite gender used the bathroom while your kid was in there?
