Last time a Washington player was shot during a robbery was Sean Taylor in Florida…and a soccer player in Barcelona was robbed at gunpoint yesterday. Crappy incidents in many places.

It does not appear that the person knew who the RB was or that he was targeted, just a random act of violence.

I’m glad it looks like he will make a full recovery.

Not sure what the consensus on Mike florio is around here but this is a new update:

Living in/around DC I was curious to hear where this happened (H St NE); and it was only 5:30pm. More details at the link below - robbers were young kids (15-17) and Robinson was able to disarm one of them.

There's so much to unpack in that article - 15 to 17 year olds, 2nd stolen vehicle, broad daylight, rising crime in a once safer area, etc., etc. I know I'm the ******* for pointing this out, but there's no football in there other than he was a football player. Sigh.

Maybe we can make this a football story and talk about how getting shot in the hip and knee will only curtail his livelihood as opposed to ending it.

Rising crime?
From the news account:
“Overall reports of violent crime in D.C. are up 3% so far this year compared to the same time last year, police data shows. Reports of assault with a dangerous weapon are down 11%. “

“This continues to be a nationwide epidemic, gun violence. I think we really got to start getting to the point where we talk about gun safety,” he said.

I assume he was misquoted or his comments not fully relayed in this report. There is no way that anybody with one ounce of common sense thinks this incident has anything to do with "gun safety".

That section of town was so awful 30 years ago when I moved in a little less than a mile west (720 3rd, NE) of where it happened. In 20 years it became a destination. That’s positive, I suppose. When I lived there you didn’t walk the 6-7 houses north to H Street, only south.

When they built Nats park for the nationals they tore down a bunch of section 8 housing and other similar apartments. Part of the deal was that they would take those apartments and houses and move them to other parts of the city as well as Montgomery county. My guess is that now instead of most of the crime being centrally located it’s dispersed from some of this

Its not like the article says reports with deadly weapons are down. Of course violent crime is up.
