UK's Commonwealth Stadium is being renamed Kroger Field. I assume that many Cards fans will stop buying groceries from that particular grocer.

I guess it was past time for UK to rename their football stadium. I wonder how many football tickets they'll have to sell at different Krogers?

I remember when Papa John ponied up $$$ to name our stadium. The UK AD [Ivy I believe] took potshots at it saying they would never sell out their name like that, LOL.

I will be curious to watch and see if the Ukay merchandise grows with the new affiliation. A subtle slap perhaps or result of their new investment.

You remembered correctly, they are more hypocritical than any other school and fan base. I remember them calling our basketball thug U because of the tattoos, now look at the guys that wear blue now.,..

In all fairness Kroger only wanted to be associated with the field itself not the stadium haha Wonder if they will have Kroger "blue" grass like boise

I questioned a friend of mine who is a high paying Kroger employee about who is giving blocks of tickets to sUcK fans at the Yum Center when we play them. He said it is possible that Kroger is helping sUcK fans get so many tickets to the game in the Yum Center. If we don't shop at Kroger where else could you shop?

Since Kroger is ending "Senior Day" on Wednesdays this gives my another reason to move all by business to Publix.

Kentucky gets no money from this at all if I am correct. Kentucky sold the naming rights a few years back in their deal with JMI sports. JMI then had the right to sell naming rights and the money will go to them to reimburse the money they spent on the original rights deal.

What ties? He just resigned his position on the UofL athletic board, and he's from Indiana. He went to college at Ball State.

That (selling the naming rights) is even dumber than the name changing to Kroger Field. Just when you think you have heard it all....something like this happens. Too funny! Just can't make this stuff up!!!!

Considering the money they received for the new practices facilities and stadium upgrades, it was worth every penny. Win/Lose(mostly lose lol) or Commonwealth/Kroger field, I going to watch them regardless and a name on a stadium is not too important to me as a fan.

So money justifies all in your mind. Right.

Clean up on aisle 7$, the kittie litter bag just exploded.

Can't wait to see CMS in his bright new K blue grocery clerk outfit.....standing on the Kroger emblem at the 25 yard line hash mark opposite the SEC emblem on the other side of the field. Great for Kroger.....not so much for uk.....and a lot of SEC fans are having a pun intended....'field day with this'.

HC93.....your fellow bbn fans on the Wildcat Lair are calling for you....consensus among them is that they do care and do think it is important.....but they are just slappies...so what do they know? Just have a dozen or so threads about the stupidity of the subject....voicing their displeasure. Must be lonely being in the opposite POV?

Papa John's Pizza mogul John Schnatter, who recently criticized the University of Louisville athletics department during a U of L Board of Trustees meeting, has resigned from the school's athletics association board, according to a U of L athletics spokesman.

Schnatter was not at Thursday's athletics board meeting.

Schnatter, who remains a member of the overall university board of trustees, has been replaced on the athletics board by retired Hilliard and Lyons executive James Rogers, who is also a university trustee..........and now ya know, and knowing is half the battle.

Yes I understand. He didn't attend UofL. He went to college in Indiana. He grew up in Indiana. He went to High School in Indiana. He only remains a member of the 'overall' university of trustees because of his wallet. That is not a local tie. It's just his wallet talking.

We will never sell naming rights to a stadium/field. We will never play football games on Thursdays. We will never have black uniforms. We will never have a DJ at a game. We want a new arena, too, waaaah.

I think I see a trend.

I thought Kroger was better than that. I would equate UK football more with a Buy Here Pay Here Used car lot, or maybe a Scratch n Dent appliance dealer. I guess Tony Molito's bid came up just short.

Let me get this right...Commonwealth Stadium is now going to be called Kroger Field and the actual field will still be named C.M. Newton Grounds at Kroger Field. Glad to see they still have their priorities in order. For a second or two I thought they might rename the field after a football guy.

I always thought the many so called improvements to Commonwealth were equivalent to putting whipped cream on a turd. Now they can get a deal from Kroger on all that whipped cream. Yummy, yummy!

The hilarity will come during the season hearing questions like "will that game be away or at Kroger's?"

Yep.....Like I said. He has ties to the university.

If I said, "hey im on the board of trustees at UK but I have no ties to UK"....that would sound dumb as hell right ? like I said, he has ties to the University...he is on the board of trustees. Simple as that.

This. Since you apparently have difficulty with reading comprehension....a picture will have to do for you.

Fellow Card fans....can you hardly wait to see this? I fell out of my chair laughing when I saw it. ....Like it to show your support.

If this gig does not work out for stupes, he looks like a natural in that Kroger hat and apron.
