Compared to PSU & Alabama our loss wasn’t as costly. Alabama still has a chance to make the playoffs but PSU is history. I think it is time for them to expand the playoffs to 8 teams.

Four is fine

Win your darn division and league first before you can even be considered one of the four best teams in the country and get the opportunity to win the NC on the field in a FF playoff...period.

This is not everybody gets a trophy and chance to compete for the NC nor should it be like the college basketball system that as become the farce it is. Be the best to beat the best. Losing don't get you there men.

I’m in favor of 8 teams in the playoff, but no more. I would also like to see a few less meaningless bowl games. Like maybe 25 games and a minimum of 6 wins. I understand there is a way that a 5 win team can make a bowl and that’s just wrong.

The current system is built to maintain the top tier teams. It is a self fulfilling system. There are legitimately 10 annually, those names don’t change much, that have a shot. History bears this out It feeds recruiting. Outside those 10 everyone else get the crumbs.

Expanding it to 8 offers more opportunity. Minnesota probably won’t make the playoffs in a 4 team playoff but 8 they are in. They are a good team worthy of getting a shot. Do we still get the same final 4 anyway maybe, but maybe not.

This year you could have multiple 1 loss teams that are really good and not make playoff. That is not good for the sport.

I would be ok with 6. Let the top 2 seeds get a bye. There is certainly enough ambiguity in the system to allow for 2 more teams.

I agree teams should have at least 6 wins to be bowl eligible but I really enjoy the bowl season, it's the last gasp of college football for a year and besides, the weather sucks outside, what better thing to do than to stay in and watch some football.. And, the bowl pools are fun too.

LSU is the best team in the country and you gotta love ol Ed as a coach. I'd like to see Clemson and LSU. I think LSU would bust Clemson

Penn State turn out not to be for real because...well, Penn State has not been for real for a long, long time, they just get a pass every year.

8 teams, P5 only
Conference champs get autobid
Teams seeded by Total wins, P5 wins, total of opponents wins
Seeds 6,7,8 - chosen by same criteria from among non- conference champs.
Play at home fields of higher-seeded teams until the champ, game.

Expansion guarantees Bama a lifetime CFP spot.

It guarantees 2 or 3 SEC teams each year.

Get 1A down to 80 teams
4 conferences of 20 teams
Each conference has 2 divisions of 10 each, that plays a round robin schedule.

Each division plays a CCG for the right to go to the CFP.

Guarantees no conference gets more than 1 team in.

8 would be a great number. Personally, I would like to see 12, but 8 is much better than 4.

Eight. No more, no less. Limit conferences to only two teams so a “particular” conference doesn’t get preferential treatment. All five P5 conferences get at least one in. If there is room for non P5 schools then so be it. They’ll have to prove themselves, i.e., Boise State vs. Oklahoma, back in the day. You could achieve this by cutting two bowl games and using them to host two of the four playoff games.

The only thing is, it’ll likely prevent a team or two that does deserve to be there not to be in it.

Under this system, the league champ playoff game would be the first round of the tournament to get from 8 to 4.

I really like this...as, IMO, this levels the playing field to actually winning into the FF on the field of play and not in the media's purview or rankings. Simple: win your division and then win you ship game to advance to FF.

Best team out of each geographic league advances, thereby keeping the interest of the whole country and not just one league or areas interest remains high.. Bet TV ratings would go up with this type of system..

An all champs FF play your way in. If you are not the best in your division of your league you are not championship worthy in my view point. Can't win your division, you are out....no second chances. Beat everybody in your round robin schedule and advance to the Ship. If two teams tie, go by the H to H result, etc. All league reps determined on the field, not by rankings. In fact, you could do away with those useless opinion rankings anyway IMO.

The purity of this type system is awesome to consider. You know KR that this is too logical so it will never happen; at least in my lifetime and maybe not yours either.o_O;)

We shouldn’t look at college football as an exclusive system. That is what it is today. The SEC before the season every starts gets 6 or 7 write in teams. Every Power 5 conference has an equal shot. Clearing defining who gets in eliminates the subjective nature of the current process.

1) Win your conference
2) At Large-non power 5 Win conference have at least 2 power 5 wins and no more than 1 loss.
3) No non power qualifiers most wins against power 5 with SOS tied in.

I would eliminate Divisions. You want to make sure you get the best 2 teams in the conference in the title game.

Not much to talk about because there won’t be any debate throughout the season. ESPN will lobby like crazy.
