Based on a very loose methodology, it appears there is much more concern for this upcoming season than there is excitement. Two posts asking for concerns and excitement shook out as follows:

Concerns: 39
Excitement: 21

Either we are a conservative bunch that likes to worry, or there are some legitimate concerns heading into the season.

That weight may be a bit disproportionate being this is a new staff. I bet a lot of the "concerns" are more like "who the hell knows" type of responses.

Interesting way of gauging the morale of Husker nation, I like it!

That said, I do think it's more reasonable to be concerned, or have more concerns at this point. As St. Anger points out, a lot of that could come from the unknowns that necessarily accompany hiring a new coaching staff. Secondly, we've been under-performing by our own (admittedly ridiculous) standards for what, 13+ years now? That doesn't lend well to optimism.

My concern [and I'm sure many others'] is that I'll have to listen to my dumb Boliever brother [insert neighbor, coworker, Facebook friend, message board poster, etc.] say "I told you so" at the first sign of trouble. I suspect that 2015 will be the year that the guys in the "Carl Fense" shirts finally abandon their commitment to "the process."

If Riley can make it to the Michigan State game with one loss or less, I think we can bury the Bolievers forever. If we've lost 3 or 4 games at that time it's going to be unbearable. Even folks who wanted Bo gone will be jumping ship on Riley at a comically fast rate.

I didn't respond to the excitement post but did the "concern" post, and I am definitely more excited than concerned

Search for a review on any product, and you're likely to find more people complaining than not. Human nature. The people enjoying their product are too busy enjoying it, and won't bother to post positive reviews.

Yep-that's the way it is anything. People who are disappointed, angry or concerned are always more vocal than the people who are satisfied. The methodology used to determine the point of this thread is faulty and indicates nothing. If you really want to know how the people(on this board at least) feel, why not just ask a simple question whether you are more concerned or excited about the upcoming season?

Just based on my own personal viewpoint from people I know, I don't notice any unusual amount of concern about the upcoming season, and probably less so than in previous years. Any amount of concern there is can simply be chalked up to a new coaching staff. In many cases, it's not so much "concern" as just the unknown that comes with any new staff.

Every morning when I pull out of my driveway to get on the freeway on my Harley and go 17 miles in a NASCAR-like pack at 80 MPH I am both excited and concerned. In that case, it is possible to be both.

This wasn't meant to be a serious statement about our fans based on two simple posts. Just a light-hearted observation.
