Getting Bill Ferrell info seems to be more difficult than breaking into Fort Knox!

In that interview he said that he has a problem with a USA coach RTC and college coach cornering his international opponent. I tend to agree with Austin. Why would we be supporting other countries?
His finals opponent is Mongolian and trains with Medlin at Illinois RTC is what he's referring to
Tom and Terry trained an Uzbek guy named Nodir Safarov and nobody had a problem with him being here. It is what it is.
Did they corner him against US opponents when he was representing a foreign country? I have no issue with training guys from other countries. In fact, I think that should be encouraged both ways. But, I do have a bit of an issue coaching them in official matches against your own country. There is a point where a line should be drawn…
Well that’s a stupid line to draw. The in corner coaching is like the least valuable piece of it all.
Completely disagree. Training someone is one thing but OFFICIALLY representing them against your own country is very much another.
I get that patriotism is different to many. Many think burning flags or kneeling during the Anthem is perfectly acceptable. To each their own. I just have a hard time officially supporting another country over your own, even if it is just a wrestling match…
Having a foreign wrestler in your room training (we all know it is done to help your college guys and domestic guys already there), who then competes in a tournament such as the Bill Farrell is not going to cause anyone to bat an eye.
It is felt and perceived as the coaches just caching their guys. Sort of like Tom or Terry being in the corner for Iowa and Cael and Casey being in the opposite corner for PSU. Our guy vs your guy... So you’re more concerned about athletics than actual impact. That’s fine I guess, but actually coaching someone on the mat is a purely aesthetic thing. The most important part of coaching happens in the 100s and thousands of hours spent in the room, not the minutes spent in the corner.
100% agree. Corner coaching is far less impactful than many (especially coaches) like to imagine, though there are moments where it is meaningful obviously (challenges, etc)
I never said they were like for like situations. One has to do with perceived loyalty (patriotism) while the other has to do with actual loyalty, given tom brands (allegedly) promised Ramos he wouldn't corner the other guy outright then never told him he was going back on his word and just showed up in Dan's corner come competition time. Common theme is simply hurt feelings over cornering (Tony was done much dirtier than ADS imo)

It’s not surprising that some completely ignore the distinction I was making. I am all for all wrestlers being able to train all over the world. It’s one of the best possible ways to get better.

I should not chime n here, but I do not see Austin's point here. It is an international tourney and he (the Mongolian) is being coached by a guy who helps train him. If the guy has actually attained legal citizenship or trying to legally attain it, then I definitely do not see a problem with him being coached by Medlin.
Now if they were at the world tournament and Medlin was in the Mongolian's corner while he was going against AD, I could see the point.

I agree. I am not a fan of wrestling for any country other than your country of residing citizenship. Its not fair to the other country's athletes who get snubbed a chance to represent their country just because a competitor ran away scared of USA's competition for the spot.
And how would Austin know the guy was getting citizenship or already did? Also I believe he was telling Medlin the coach he's not an American. Not telling the Mongolian your not an American. Most be a slow day on wrestling twitter

Seems like a big nothing burger to me. Oh no, he told him he wasn't an American! Who cares. Most of the crap said when guys start jawing is a lot worse than that. Seems pretty mild imo.
