Agree Phatty....if he doesn't get that ball, I think Carolina would have gone on to win the game. He fought off 3 or 4 Carolina players to get that ball.
I looked at the box score this morning, and unless there's a misprint, they had him for 1 fumble recovery, which is wrong.

Great game for Danny. This game was all D and special teams...my UT fans are angry I'm giving Manning little to no credit, but I watched the game (as awful as it was). I've said this is a lifetime achievement win for Manning and cements him as a top 3 all time QB...not debatable anymore.

Agreed with you.. and it could have been REALLY bad for manning... he had the 2 turnovers but there were at the minimum 2 passes that could have, and I would say SHOULD have been picks..one on the first Drive that would have been 7 points for carolina.. and another that Norman got 2 hands on

The thing with football is no one will remember who the RB was on the winning team. No matter how good of a game the QB plays, he is always the winner or the loser of the super bowl.

Hard to believe that DT was a borderline 2-3 star player coming out of HS IIRC.

Sometimes stars don't mean squat. It's how you are coached, you're development, and if you are a late bloomer. Or overlooked like many guys in the nfl.

Two fumble recoveries and led the team in tackles with 8.. his fellow linebacker garnered the MVP honors ..well deserved, but DT was just as valuable

Took another look at the box score and ESPN has it wrong. Has DT as having 1 fumble recovery. Stats at NFL.com has it right with 2.

I wish that Trevathan, Williamson & Woodyard had all played in the same class @ UK. That group of LB's would've been off the charts!!

For sure. Nice to have the leadership they all provided over their careers though. Defense throughout their careers was always tough. Not great but they had grit and won some big games

He might have been by the recruiting services but not by some teams as he had a few offers from sec schools I do believe.

No love for Bud?
I was thinking 4-3. But, yes, Bud could be added to that list as a DE/OLB in a 3-4 scheme.

In a 3-4, you'd only be able to play 2 out of my listed 3 (Woodyard, Trevathan & Williamson) at a time. I don't think that any of them would work very well @ DE/OLB. 2 of them are wills, but Trevathan could have slid over to play SLB. Anyway, those 3 were recruited as 4-3 LB's & played mostly in a 4-3, so that's the reason why I left off Bud, since he was recruited to be a DE in a 4-3. I also think that he is a better 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB/DE, even though he is effective doing both.
