Husker QB Tommy Armstrong will be getting a little bit of extra football tutoring in this summer with a few accomplished teachers, according to a Monday post on his Instagram account.
Armstrong shared Monday that he'd received an invitation to the Manning Passing Academy, an instructional camp run by, among others, three distinguished NFL QBs: Archie Manning and his sons, Peyton and Eli.
The camp, which runs June 23 through 26 at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, has — according to the camp website — "been helping players fully realize their potential on and off of the football field" for over 20 years while aiming to help "all campers learn from the best."
It won't be the first time Armstrong has received instruction from a former Super Bowl QB; He's spent two different offseasons training with former Packers legend Brett Favre.
Armstrong is coming off a junior season in which he passed for 3,030 yards and 22 touchdowns, throwing with a 55.2-percent completion rate, respectable stats that were tempered by a career-high 16 interceptions. He also rushed for 400 yards in 2015.

He spent two offseasons with Brett Favre? That would explain the interceptions.

I know this is kind of a joke but I seriously question learning from Brett farve, one of the most overrated QBs in recent nfl history. While he did some great things with his style, his decision making was poor but paid off at times due to ability. 90% of players don't have that ability, including tommy.He spent two offseasons with Brett Favre? Was thinking the exact same thing. This staff has tons of connections it's crazy. Recruits are taking notice of this and telling their peers!

I'm glad he's learning from the Mannings too, but easy on Favre there... One of the most overrated in NFL history? Was it the 72,000 passing yards you found overrated? Or the 508 td passes? The MVPs? The Super Bowl victory?
The guy was reckless with the ball, but one of the most overrated in NFL history he most definitely was not.

Yes, the key word here is overrated. Please remember, I did not say he was bad.
What Favre benefited from was a team that was patient with him and longevity. He also played with plenty of talent...both coaching and athletic....around him in many years. His reckless style led to some serious yards but also some serious picks and poor decisions. He's Phillip Rivers with a supporting cast.
Think about names of quarterbacks people say are up there as the greatest of the era. Manning, Marino, Montana, Young, Brady, Favre...etc etc. Favre is usually named with this group, and of them, he is by far the most overrated.
When you think about it in the context in which I meant it, he IS one of the most overrated and really pissed some throws/games away and shouldn't be mentoring anyone. It doesn't mean he was bad or unaccomplished. If I thought that, I would have said that.

I think in that light you've got a good point. I was looking at it from the NFL at large, all QBs through all time (you said history of the NFL), and from that perspective, he's got to be among the elite names. But you can easily make the case that within that group (the best of the best) he is overrated...
Timsun, I'm nitpicking, but go back and look at my original post. I said "recent" NFL history as I don't know enough about all of NFL history.

Thanks for the back and forth clarifying... A bit refreshing to have this kind of conversation before it gets out of hand (which I have often contributed to...)

Everybody thinks somebody is overrated. Marino, Aikman, Favre, Bradshaw, etc... 10 different people could have 10 differing opinions on that group of HoFers alone. About the only QB in NFL history that is without detractors is Joe Montana.
