There is WAR. Rethuglican/right wing supported Putin is slaughtering men, women and children as he forcibly invades and tries to take over a nation.
Rethuglican tax breaks for the rich along with the war have led to record inflation in America. Corrupt rethuglicans across the nation
are attempting to gerrymander every voting district and take away as many peoples right and even ABILITY to vote as they can. Rethuglican's nationwide have caused hundreds of thousands of deaths by denying Covid is real, protesting vaccinations and mask wearing to get through it, while at the same time dreaming up countless conspiracies to pretend where the supposedly non-existant virus came from. Democracy itself is at stake in the next election or two--if rethuglicans retake congress then the United States will become a Russia like state run by oligarchs and corrupt right wing autocrats who spew "rights" while eliminating everyone else's and killing everyone not like them.
And dimwits are worried about an athletic competition because they don't like who won. How's that song go? "Its the end of the world as we know it...."
