Conjecture on OC position

I posted this in another thread but wanted to give it more exposure by posting it in its' own thread:

I have been wondering lately about this sort of issue. I was wondering that if Stoops is micromanaging the OC if maybe this was why Gran wasn't offered the position last year. Maybe he talked to MS last year and wanted autonomy but was never told that he would have that here. A year and one OC later maybe Stoops(assuming that these arguments are valid) realizes his butt is on the line and he has offered that autonomy to a new OC. Just a theory based on nothing more than conjecture.

I think Stoops went with Dawson because he wanted the similarity/familiarity with what Brown was running, but with Dawson's promise to factor in more of a power running game. I think he felt Gran was too radical a departure from Brown's AR. I think now he knows that true, full-out AR is not going to work in the SEC and is willing to go with someone like Gran.
