Consolidate threads?

I have no say, of course, but can't tell you how not into making this basketball board an everything else board I am. This will royally suck if you don't have any interest in football portal information etc etc.

But since it's apparently happening anyway, can we consider at least consolidating into like one or two football-tastic threads? A thread anytime there's football news (which is great, go football!), and this is gonna get messy.

I'm sure I'll now get bludgeoned for not approving, but anyway, just an idea.

Basically seems like the goal is to drive traffic down here till they can close it. This place is about to get so overrun with topics that it will be useless to everyone. Basketball fans will be wading through gyeros and wrestling and football. Football fans won’t be able to find what they want for all the hoops and baseball threads.

The easy solution would be to add tags/flair to all threads. Then they can all exist in one forum but with easily noticed (different color) tags.

Even better would be to then allow people to filter by tag. If you only want to see basketball posts, filter. Football? Filter. Off topic? Filter. Would also open up the ability to have tags for say women’s basketball, for those who want to read only about the men.

Of course, that’s only useful if they want this place to survive. I don’t believe they do.

It’s really telling to make the decision to eliminate the football board but keep the basketball board. Oh well, I guess we will see multiple UK topics on the basketball board. Let’s go!

I really wish I knew how to start up a messageboard. We as BBN can't go down.

Absolutely no organization and chaos all over this forum. Searching for threads getting buried will be tedious. Had to go a kill a good thing, corporate greed at its finest.

Except they’re no longer calling it the basketball board. Notice they changed the Rupp Rafter label to now just says it’s for “UK Sports.”

So I guess the idea is that this is no longer a basketball specific board, instead it’s just for any sort of UK sports discussion. Which is sure to become a confusing unreadable miserable mess.

Yes. And I think that’s the whole point of them doing this. They’re trying to sabotage the free board by making it such a mess that people will be driven to the pay board.

That way they can claim that they still kept a free option … even if they don’t really want people using it.

Hmmm, I still see “Rupp Rafters - UK Sports” so to many, it’s still primarily the basketball board. I agree with your assessment that it should be a UK Sports board but hey, whatever can be made to be confusing, let’s go!

I won't be driven to their paid board. I'll be driven to Wildcat Nation, a site where the On3/KSR bean counters have no say.
