Great for BB in the winter , but what does the NCAA say about him covering a WR or putting pressure on a QB for us this week? Asking for a well paid Italian friend.

I guess that we can't make all Husker fans happy with the good news that at least we have a decent chance to improve.

Damn this team needed Morrow and Jacobson to stay around.

Still should be a pretty talented team with Watson a year older, a healthy Gill, and a year older Jordy in addition to the new kid who looks like a deadly 3 pt shooter.

This team may surprise a few teams.

Jacobsen at the very least and Ed if he had been willing to continue his role would have been very helpful. There are some people that have watched practice that think this is the most talented team Miles has ever had even without Ed and Jake. With his size, Jake was a huge loss but I can see why he didn't want to play the 5 like he would have to do spelling Jordy. IF we had gotten the grad transfer center earlier maybe he would have stayed.

Same thing they said last year about his most talented team.

Roby should be able to fill Morrow's shoes now that put on some muscle. He's just as athletic, if not more so.

What worries me most is leadership and team chemistry. Without Webster and Jacobson, we are lacking in veteran leaders. Hopefully Watson can step up here but I don't see him as a very vocal leader. I think it's going to be a struggle again with so many new guys playing together for the first time.

That I know of, Roby is slated to play the small forward/3 position, which would have kept Morrow on the floor as 4 with Jordy and transfer as the two centers.

Watson made a pretty nice leap from his freshman to sophomore seasons, so I'm looking forward to seeing if he can do the same this year. Also in the same discussion about improvement, I'm not sure I've seen a player improve as much throughout the course of a season as I saw Jordy improve. We'll see what a year in the weight room does for his game. My expectations are not monstrous for Jordy in his sophomore season, but should he stick around, I think we'll be sitting on a genuine all conference center by his junior or senior seasons.

What will our starting lineup look like this year?

Watson
Allen
Roby
Copeland
Jordy
I like this line up, but I don't see Allen starting at the beginning of the season

I think you may see the starting line up at the beginning of the year something like this

Watson
Taylor
McVeigh
Copeland
Tshimanga

I think the most dynamic line up would be

Watson
Palmer
Roby
Copeland
Tshimanga

Subs for Watson

Sub 1 = Allen
Sub 2 = Taylor
Sub 3 = Gill only if we are in foul trouble

Subs for Palmer

Sub 1 = Taylor
Sub 2 = Gill
Sub 3 = Allen

Subs for Roby

Sub 1 = McVeigh
Sub 2 = Palmer
Sub 3 = Copeland
Sub 4 = Taylor for small line ups only

Subs for Copeland

Sub 1 = Roby
Sub 2 = Mcveigh
Sub 3 = Duby

Subs for Jordy

Sub 1 = Okeke
Sub 2 = Borchardt
Sub 3 = Roby/Copeland combo

Minimal time this year for Thor and Nana as they learn the system. Nana will get some PT... Thor will Redshirt

Edit:

Positions I feel these guys would be comfortable playing

Watson = 1-2
Allen = 1-2
Taylor = 1-2-3
Laws = 2
Gill = 1-2
Trueblood = 2
Palmer = 2-3(4 if we go small)
Nana = 2-3
Thor = 2-3
McVeigh = 3-4
Roby = 1-2-3-4(5 if our bigs are in trouble)
Copeland = 3-4(5 if our bigs are in trouble)
Okeke = 4-5
Brochardt = 5
Tshimanga = 5

We have a lot of players that can play multiple positions. I know Roby will mainly play the 3 and 4 spots, but the kid can do a little of everything so I said 1 through 5 for him

These three guys may not be expected to do a ton, but they seem to have a ton of talent and could be solid contributors by conference play.

Nana Akenton – Freshman

Nana the pride of Bolingbrook High School. He was notably referred to by Rivals.com as the greatest shooter they have ever scouted. Nana is also an explosive athlete and has won more than one dunk contest in his high school days.

Thomas Allen – Freshman

Thomas made a ton of threes last year between High School and AAU. He played for a prep school in Brewster Academy that went undefeated in their High School season. Thomas should play an immediate impact for the Huskers as capable shooting off the bench.

James Palmer Jr. – Junior

The transfer from Miami finally gets his chance to show the nation how he can play. Palmer was used sparingly at Miami before transferring to Nebraska. The former top 50 recruit should turn a lot of heads when he first steps on the floor.

This team may surprise a few teams.

We have been surprising teams for a few years now by winning some games against good teams.

Unfortunately, we have yet to do it consistently.

I never really paid attention to Nebrasketball until the Sadler days (when one of the assistant coaches was married to my wife's aunt's sister) and I would be delighted to see this team surprise us fans and make it to the tourney, but I won't hold my breath.

I will continue to watch this team on my pc/phone when I am able. I like Miles, but his teams need to be more consistent from game to game and he needs to figure out what an offense is and how to get more points on the board every game. His offenses have been hard to watch.

I sure hope these new players can showcase their talents and play as a team to win some games and keep the home crowds happy.

I didn't notice until today that Nebraska has two conference games the first week of December, then five games out of conference before resuming Big Ten play in January. It's probably already been discussed here, but is there a reason for this change?

Although it's a win either way, this makes Copeland being eligible for the first semester a bit more important. Otherwise it looks like he would have missed two conference games.

In the B1G ultimate wisdom, they decided that playing the post season tournament at MSG was important. But because the Big East already had that venue locked up, the B1G had to schedule it for a week earlier. Thus pushing the need to start the league schedule earlier. Not sure why they had to push those games to early December, possibly to coincide with the B1G football championship?

Thanks. I knew the conference tournament was moved up and that conference play would have to begin earlier this year, I just didn't know that some games were pushed all the way to early December.

And yeah, nothing says "Big Ten Basketball Tournament" like Madison Square Garden or the Verizon Center in DC.

When the conference expanded east, including Maryland and Rutgers, in addition to Penn State, the conference is no longer a midwestern-only conference. If the conference wants a national footprint, we can't expect conference tournament games to only occur in the midwest. I'd say between football championships being played in Indiana and basketball in Chicago and Indianapolis, the midwest has certainly had its representation.

Disclaimer: I live in NY, so I enjoy a few events held here.

Glad that he is eligible immediately, but I'm not going to get overly excited yet.

With Miles rolling his high-power weave offense and sieve defense out there for yet another season, I'm just looking forward to having some talent in the program for the next head coach. That's really all there is to look forward to with this program.

Good for the program, bad for the haters.
It is really good for both. If NU wins, great for the program and fans. If NU lays an egg (like the haters hope)...the haters get to say "Ha...even with his most talented team they sucked"

With the conference draw that NU grabbed I see 10-11 conference wins this year.

I think they should hope to hit 12 conf wins to make the dance. Will also help immensely if they are able to have some success in the non-conference to build momentum.

I think the experts will still pick Nebraska to finish 12th or 13th.

12 would be really something but that is a nasty number in conference for a team with only one PG. But you never know!
