June Jones said today that CJ had a great week and really elevated himself in the eyes of NFL scouts. Good to hear for him!

Thank you for passing that along, Caveman.

It is always so interesting that our second year JUCOs tend to make such a big jump from year 1 to year 2. I understand that after a full year of conditioning and practices (as well as playing in some games) that you are going to be better but they seem to have a much higher production curve than your regular 4-year player.

I think CJ, Melvin, and Stamps all make NFL rosters next year. All three probably go rounds 5-7 and if Melvin is not healed he signs as a FA.

cant see forrest making an nfl team, hope he does

He's pretty solid in coverage and a lot of teams struggle covering TEs. I don't know if he will be drafted or not, but I think his coverage ability will help him make a team.

Making open field tackles requires speed to get in position to put arms & body on ball carrier. I think Forrest will prove he can do that.

Forrest's biggest problems most of the time was trying to stay with fast receivers and tackling. I guess we watch Forrest and had two different opinions.

Forrest is good at making tackles 6-8-10 yds downfield, not so good at making tackles at the point of attack. That's mainly because he does a poor job of getting off blocks. He needs to dedicate himself to the weight room if he wants a NFL career.

And he's probably going to play outside instead of MLB. He's just not going to stop the ball carrier at the point of contact but he covers well for a lber.

Agreed. He'll be an OLB in a 3-4 scheme. He's a solid pass-rusher and in pass coverage. He tackles well laterally, but as you say, he's not good at getting off blocks and making tackles inside the tackle box. If he just needs to set the edge and keep contain he has the speed and enough strength to be fine. If nothing else, he'll make for a reliable special teams player at the next level.

Not sure if he'll get drafted but he'll definitely sign a FA contract and go into camp with a chance to make a roster.

Back to poop, imagine if he had a rs year and was coming back next year. Getting some of the 3 to play 3 jucos is going to be big in the future.

Not to beat a dead horse but this shows some of the problems with the old S&C program. You have a LB who is 6'3. 255 which is massive who is having trouble getting off blocks. Read something last week about Bud being the Steelers top rookie this year, and they said while he did well this year he wore down due to a lack of strength. Don't ever remember Wesley or Danny having those issues their rookie year. Good thing for Danny is he is a FA this offseason and is going to make himself a nice chunk of change for his play this year.

Trevathen was as hard a hitter as I've seen at UK. Opponents seemingly always went backwards when he hit them. I've seen lots of more recent opponents seem to always fall forward when tackled, not as evident with Trevathen. Hopefully UK's young LB corps takes note.

This would be my assessment as well. Forrest was about as good as it gets for a Mike LB in pass coverage. He was very below average as a run stopper. I believe he gets drafted and becomes a situational Nickel LB.

For rest had an awful lot of tfl the last two years for a guy who can't get off blocks. I think Forrests fits at nickel as well but the dude has great length and speed to play nfl backer.
