If Stoops bombs another season and the Hilltoppers have another Top 25 season?

Brohm would be much better fit for UK cause he's offensive minded and Stoops isn't, BUT I don't see Brohm taking that job when there'll be others teams that'll havwe openings.

And 3rd (for selfish reason) I want Brohm to replace Petrino whenever he's retires. :D

I suppose it is possible but in my personal opinion I believe Brohm will have such better opportunities. I think Brohm would take it if that were his one and only opportunity but I believe I believe he is going to be offered much better jobs than uk.

Don't think so. The Kentucky head football job is not a destination job. It's either a transition to a better job or a career killing job. Basketball rules in Lexington. Not football.

I disagree with the latter half of your statement. How recently has it been a transition job? It has only been a career killer, except for Brooks who did an amazing job with what he inherited and how far he moved the program from where it was when he started.

For Brohm, I don't see him going to UK. He seems happy where he is. He's competitive enough he will want to move onto a P5 job, but not UK. There will be better ones. UK will hire an unproven coordinator again even though they absolutely should go after Brohm and throw the bank at him.

Can't see it with his deep ties to UofL and the history of Kentucky football.

Trivia time: Name the last head coach at UK that was hired for a "better" job.

The answer is Bear Bryant. Every coach since then has been fired, retired, or taken lesser jobs.

In fairness one could argue that Guy Morris left for a better job at Baylor. But that was a different Baylor back then, and he didn't last long.

Porky might outlast Butch Jones at UT. Don't know if Tennessee would hire the coach of Western Ky but the pitchforks are being sharpened in Knoxville.

Cincinnati might be a great landing spot soon for Jeff especially if they get an invitation to join the Big 12, which is possible.

Stoops is too expensive to fire this year, and probably next year, too. Jeff will have better opportunities sooner than that.

The light in his star would go dim. That job is just not a long term sustainable option sorry.

I'm thinking the job for Jeff Brohm would be Purdue. They have more of a tradition of playing winning football and are in the easier Western Division of the Big Ten.

Jeff will get much better opportunities than LPT. Although I wouldn't mind seeing him thumb his nose at the slapd!cks and succeed Petrino here.

LPT Football: We'll take him anyway...

The reason you don't see coaches leaving UK for better jobs is because there aren't many. It's an SEC job with 90,000 faithful fans in the stands every week. It's moot anyway, Coach Stoops is just in year 4 and all football people know it will take 8-10 years to rebuild from Joker and the probation Mumme left us.

At least 8-10 years.

Stupes may deserve the first of its kind... A lifetime contract.

I agree with the posters who said Baylor was a (small) step up for Guy Morris at the time. Small, but still a step up.

As for Brohm, there is no way he should go to UK. UK is a place to go if you have to beg for a job, like Stoops, or you've already had your career and you're looking for someplace to retire, like Brooks.

UK is a coaching graveyard, and unless Brohm needs the money, he should continue to coach at WKU until one of the legitimate P5 programs comes calling. My guess is it won't be much longer.

I don't see it happening just because college coaching jobs are all about timing. But let's be realistic, if there were no other job offers and UK came calling with a lucrative offer, I don't think he could say no for his family's sake. Unless he had something personally against the administration there, it's a job and would be a step up to be in a P5 conference. Don't fool yourselves. See Kenny Payne...

Jeff could succeed wildly at UK and therein lies the rub. He knows it, too, lol. I nearly admitted a year ago that it scared me to think Barny might groom him to make the thought more palatable which was just around the time that I realized that po boy got AIDs so bad he can't tell what time it is. Make no mistake, if UK embraced the obvious and mined the UofL coaching talents of Jeff and the crowd at Western they could coach about 5 years of the Perfect Storm. Jeff would leave for a real job after succeeding, but without Jurich-like pressure he won't step across the Inner Revulsion Line of Sand.

Brooks "saved" YewKay football with his scheduling, not his coaching. That, and his coincidental timing to coach at the same time as HWSNB.

Could he? Yes.
Should he? No.
Will he? Only Jeff knows the answer to that.

But to the poster above - he is not cut like Kenny Payne. Jeff would be wise to consult Howard Schnellenberger about this matter, if, and when the offer comes, before jumping from the frying pan into that fire..;)

I'll be a bad alumnis for saying this, but I don't think the Tops will have a top-25 season like last year again. Doughty is gone, and save for Alabama, the schedule isn't very eye-catching.

Try that again in English? Not only do I doubt "the power" I doubt your grasp of basic math. #SoLame #SoUK
It means that UofL is a nice regional school that has done well but as the State school UK has the power of 4 million Kentucky faithful behind it. Add in the fact UK is a charter school in the SEC you can easily see why we pack the stadium with 90,000 strong. The whole deal with UK acting like they were reducing stadium capacity was just another brilliant ploy by Barnhart to bring in more revenue. I mean what other AD could have seen the brilliance of giving Coach a huge contract extension to keep other schools from poaching him. Don't let the 12-24 lifetime record fool you Coach Stoops is one of the Top 5 coaches in the country. Just look at the recruiting rankings which are way more important than wins and losses

This is what I dislike about this message board. I get that a fake troll like cantmissprospect can be funny, but it just derails any discussion. Half the people are in on the joke but people who may not read the forum as regularly get angry over the trolling. Can you just start your own threads to do your act and stop ruining all the discussions?

Who's not in on it? I just enjoy teasing the stupid out of a troll.

FWIW, posting UK threads is guaranteed to feed the trolls.

For my money, Cantmiss is one of the best slappy posers I've ever seen. No reason to act like his comments are anything more...enjoy them as I do!

Tom Herman's wife is coming in to look at schools after Labor Day. Mitch and his high rolling buds are going to make it happen. He's going to buy out Herman's contract after Houston plays the Cards and have him coach the cats next week against the Cards in a hope that Herman can beat U of L on consecutive weeks. Best AD in the land works like that.

Herman is an excellent coach but he isn't at Coach Stoops level yet.

U of K will never get an up-and-coming coach of Herman's caliber who can take his pick of open posts. Lexington is a graveyard for football coaches and that's never going to change.

I must agree that UK football is a coach killer job. The graveyard is located under the old Memorial Coliseum.

Rutgers would be a much better landing spot for Brohm...suspect that job will be open at the end of the year
