I know people are saying the program is dead, which I don't think we are at that point. We still pack the stadium, we still have our sold out record, football is still the life blood of the athletic department. We still have top notch facilities.

My question is could this program ever become a second thought in Nebraska and nonexistant in the rest of the country to point that it really means nothing in the football world? I know that seems insane but if you would have asked someone in the 90s. " Do you think Nebraska football will ever have a losing season, ever miss a bowl game, ever not be ranked, ever have the worse passing d in the country? I bet many at that time would have looked at you like your crazy.

If this program continues to struggle and turn out losing season or average to below average season, how long before the sell out streak ends? Next year? A few years?. I don't see it lasting past 2 years of losing seasons. Once the sellout streak ends, how long before big money boosters stop putting millions into the program? No money and the facilities start to get let go of sorts? Is it possible we never return to a top 10 team or dare I say it Championship team? Or does Nebraska have to much history to die completely?

No. On Saturdays NU football will always be the thing to do. Sure...if we go 3-9 multiple times maybe....doubtful that happens. Even under this staff.

The sellout streak will end next season no matter what they say.

If you have 20,000 empty seats in a stadium, even if the tickets for them were "sold," then the game was not sold out. The streak was about a full stadium, not ticket sales. Counting the sale of unused tickets is like Colorado selling spring game tickets to fictitious ghost fans.

Nebraska has officially become the LAUGHINGSTOCK team of the SLOW 10 after today. The entire nation is laughing at NU now. Horrible idea to tuck tail and run from the Big 12 just because Longhorns kicked NUs azzzzes every year.

NU in the SLOW 10 is waaay waaay worse and NU was never the LAUGHINGSTOCK they are now.

What a disaster this is for NU. Just a nightmare !! Who in the helll thought the SLOW 10 was a good idea. Geeez !!

No it won't die. Even the folks who hate Riley have hope for the next guy, whether he shows up in the off season or two years from now.

Oddly enough, I made the comment to a friend earlier that watching Nebraska/Purdue felt like watching a football game in .75x speed. It was an eyesore.

I can see why you guys are proud of your sellout streak - its impressive. But fans in the seats don't win games.

Got news for you. I was at a game late last year that was roughly 20% empty and you really couldn't tell visually other than that you had lots of room in your rows. I counted butts in seat in our section and it was roughly a 20% no show. The decline in concession sales had to be expensive for NU. That was the first time I didnt' have to wait in line for concessions.

I'm doubtful that this staff will ever be successful. They have not turned this team around at all. Instead, we have severely regressed.

When was the last time we went 3-9? It's on the horizon.

Don't know if you're asking seriously. IIRC, 12 game seasons (including bowls) started around the early 1970's. So, the answer is we've never went 3-9 that I know of.

Concerning the OP, you have to define "dead program" because I don't see us dissolving the football program. Power 5 football teams can be one good coach away from being relevant. Problem is finding that one good coach. We are completely irrelevant as a football program now.

Don't forget, sports wasn't the reason Ne left the 12, insecurity (still exists) and a boat load more of money. The pres of Ne and regents were voting for a more stable and prof arrangements. Slow, saw a lot Huskers chasing Boilers down the field today.

It already has.
