Could ticket sales send UK to Houston?

I saw an interview with a former VP of the NCAA that was involved with the selection committee for several years and he said that ticket sales is a definite factor in the placement of teams and where they go.

Is there any way possible that we are sent there to fill the NRG(formerly Reliant) Stadium?

Imagine a Kentucky/Notre Dame regional championship game in Cleveland. That would be a TOUGH ticket!

Cleveland will be the easiest venue to sell out due to proximity if Wisc. gets a #1 seed and is sent there with Duke as the #2. The committee knows that #BBN will travel anywhere in large numbers. The dome in Houston seats way more fans than Cleveland. I was thinking that we may be sent to Houston with Kansas as our #2. that would ensure a sellout.

That's NOT what he said. You completely misunderstood his statement. He said that tickets sales play NO factor in seeding and that while they have that data available, it is no factor at all. He went on to say that typically the regionals are 90% sold out by the time they fix the bracket anyway.

So I don't know what you're basing this on.

Sending the overall # 1 seed (and probably 34-0) to a site considerably further away would cause a riot. There is absolutely no way the NCAA could justify that.

Even if the NCAA Committee would send us to the South Region our first two games will still be in Louisville, Ky, then instead of Cleveland, Oh to Houston, Tx, then back to Indy for the Final Four. The problem is everyone knows that we UK Fans will travel anywhere to watch the Wildcats play! The Committee knows that Kentucky fans will travel anywhere to see the Cats play and that in Houston, TX in the dome the Kentucky Fans would pack the Dome! Don't take me wrong because I still believe that we go to Louisville, Ky then to Cleveland, Oh, then to Indy for the Final Four. It is a thought if the Committee thinks and knows how well the UK Fans travel and send them to Houston to the South Region.

you need to research how they fill out brackets. there is absolutely no way, with kentucky being the number one overall seed, that we end up anywhere but the midwest.

I think you're right, but I don't think the OP's question was stupid. Consider this...in 2012, we could have been sent to Atlanta or to St. Louis for the regionals. Committee sent us to ATL because they said we are a "southern team". St. Louis is closer than Atlanta, but in the end, regional identity won out. In this case, I think they send us to Cleveland b/c it's much closer than Houston, but the committee has shown in the past that they aren't always predictable.

I don't think they will send us to Houston, but I wouldn't be shocked if they did.
