Judge Ervin ( and his father ) are from Morganton & attended Davidson & Harvard. His grandfather ( Sam Jr. ) is a unx alum. Hard to believe he's not a hole...especially given his comments. Per his ,"You can’t be an active participant then turn around and say, ‘I was defrauded" comment , clearly he's blaming the athletes for taking the deal. That's straight outta the unx PR playbook. With malice of forethought , unx knowingly brought in kids they knew were incapable of doing college-level work. The kids were handed a schedule already prepared for 'em...a schedule they had no part in assembling. Since they weren't students anyway , they did as told. These schedules were made with 2 things in mind:
1) They were fraudulent and...
2) They required little if any attendance. Eligibility and the freedom to focus on their sport were the only considerations. Had any of these kids not taken the deal , they jeopardized the only reason they were on campus to begin with...their sport. That was the entire purpose and everyone knew it. I'm lookin' at you too , Roy. Anyway , expecting one of these athletes to buck is insane as is blaming 'em for doing so. Ervin also uttered his , "
it would be a better world if he could believe that these things were not taking place at other universities" comment. WTF? A sitting judge tells a lawyer that "everybody does it" so it's ok. THAT statement moreso than any betrays his hole allegiance.
