To those that have had COVID-19 or know someone that has, any advice on what to do and what not to? I realize that this isn't that kind of board, but I would like to hear from someone with experience. My dad has it and I'm kind of terrified.

Thanks guys

A lot of Vitamin C, D3, and Zinc (Preferably sublingual like Cold Eeze). Moist air helps a lot too, but don’t sit too long in a hot shower.

if he really starts feeling bad then to professional clinical help for supplemental oxygen and maybe an anti-viral.

The mom of one of my really good friends had it. She's 89 and has had a lot of health problems in the past, she was in the hospital for a few days and was never on a vent. They just treated her with a lot of vitamins, especially D, and heavy grade mucinex. She's been fine since and this was in late April/early May. Good luck to your dad, hope he has a quick recovery.

Fortunately, we have learned a lot about the disease and treatment has advanced significantly since the early days.

God bless and hope all ends up well.

I would suggest getting his doctor to prescribe a steroid early on.

One family member did that and it was much easier than the family member who didn’t. What could it really hurt?

If it didn't take out my mom, and she is the epitome of high risk then it's just hit and miss. Don't worry about it too much, there's nothing you can do about it anyways.

Hit and miss is correct. Late Friday night, my in-laws neighbor died after 2 weeks in ICU. His wife, daughter and her husband were sick as well, but are recovering at home. They believe the daughter and her husband gave it to them. Of the 3 survivors, only the daughter got sick enough to be considered for hospitalization. While she never got past that point, she said it was by far the sickest she'd ever been.

If his case is not terribly severe, which I pray it won't be, let him know he may be in for some pretty awful headaches days 7-11 or so. Vitamin D, zinc, hot drinks, and a humidifier go a long way. Doc told me to stay away from advil so I did (switched to tylenol). It's a unique and pretty crappy virus, but odds are in his favor. All the best to your dad and your family, @Zissou87.

I’ve heard to get lots of Vitamin A and D. Avoid just lying around if you can. A lot of times it develops into pneumonia. Being active helps to keep your lungs pumping and helps fend off pneumonia.

And above all, pray. Never underestimate the power of prayer.

Day 21 for me today. First 10/11 days were the worst Ive ever felt.

Wife and kids got it as well. They were sick but processed it a little faster than me. Kids were about 7/8 days. My wife was around 11/12.

It was like a really terrible Flu, a bad sinus infection, and the worst hangover I’ve ever had all rolled into one. I had really bad fatigue as the symptoms began to fade away. I’ve felt pretty good and have been active the last three days.

I’ll echo the Vitamin D and C. Zinc. STAY HYDRATED. Make sure you eat. My parents and I were barely eating. Once I started over-hydrating and eating regularly, I feel like I felt a lot better.

but, it’s different for everybody. We had 7 people with it that all had somewhat different experiences.

Mine lasted 10 days or so. Started with an intense headache right between my eyes, then progressed into a really oddly dry head cold. Lost taste and smell partially for a week or so. Was more of an annoyance than anything.

I was taking vitamin c, D, Zinc, and quercetin (a zinc ionophore that supposedly allows better absorption of the zinc) before I got infected as a preventative, so that may or may not have helped keep the symptoms on the mild side.

We thought we were going to get it but lucked out. My wife and 2 kids went to get their haircut and later found out the hairstylist ended up having it. Of course we all managed to come down with something (cold or sinus infection) afterwards. We all went and got tested but all came back negative. So no one in my family has gotten it yet.
