That is the thought that immediately came to mind. That, and holy crap, how bad is the depth here if you take a senior running back and move him to linebacker mid season
Chris Weber actually looked decent out there. Just hope he doesn't call a time out when we don't have any.
Yet, these coaches are clueless and completely to blame for 2-3 start!
I'm telling you, I've never seen a more unlucky start to a coaching career. A hail mary against BYU. An interception in OT vs. Miami. A called run play that turns into a pass that leaves just enough time for Illinois to score a TD in the waning seconds.
Throw in an already undermanned front 7 facing injuries to several starters (Banderas, Ivey, VV, Williams, Gangwish) - seriously, the football Gods are throwing several hurdles at Riley, and I still think he and his staff are the right guys for the job.
Just think when luck turns for the better.
#1 - several younger guys getting invaluable experience
#2 - The team will have learned several lessons from end of game scenarios and will be better because of it
#3 - They've already seen the bottom (or at least we hope they have) - and it's much easier to build up after being taken down, so the final outcome might be worth all of this angst.
I'm with you, support the staff and let's see what happens.

Chris Weber is a walk on. He has been serviceable but is not going to allow us to beat elite talent like Ohio State in the Big 10 championship game. Beats the alternative of burning redshirts on frosh.
Do we have any Freshmen that are redshirting? Ferguson and Young have played. Reed is on special teams (and playing safety?). Talan has left the program. Is Berry redshirting?

This is one aspect of the program that definitely will take time. You can't build these guys up overnight. Like Peter says, many of these guys are not in shape and the former regime did little to improve. Getting Epley back should help us get back on track, but it will take at least one off-season for them to "husker up".
This might actually be a good move for him. Might improve him chances of playing on Sundays.
I also agree with the S&C concerns. I wonder if they are incorporating stretching into their weight program? Anyone have any incite into the S&C program, please feel free to chime in.
It may work out, but I just don't see Cross as a good LB'er. Very bad acceleration and I'd be curious of desire, tackling, etc. Cody Glenn did alright, but it took a good click of time as well. I guess we will see.
I love the idea of getting Cross in the game as a linebacker. Hope he can end his Husker career on a high note, his work ethic is outstanding and I want him to have success.

Actually you can. You can blame the fact they weren't properly trained and held accountable since they got there.
Some of believe and some dont. Riley will turn this thing around. He's too good of a coach to not.
Exactly! One more loss, and this yr is meaningless. It's a great year to get valuable experience for the younger players, get rid of any remaining undercurrent, and recruit like crazy - selling them on the fact that they will play right away if they got the talent.

During this season, I've seen a lot of changing, in the way youse feel about me, and in the way I feel about youse. In here, there were two teams killing each other, but I guess that's better than twenty million. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!
Not buying the S & C problem. Our first 25 players are good, but we are obviously lacking and depth. Love the walk-on program, but it should really be a source of 4-5 athletes, not the entire 2nd squad.
