Wow, the man is not even the one who gets to call plays and would rather keep that job than be the "man" for the schlonghorns. That's embarrassing.

I misread the thread topic and thought why is anyone questioning why George Cumby would turndown a Horns offer. LMAO

And Texas is looking at Gilbert from Tulsa. They also supposedly interviewed the Auburn OC (I forgot his name, Lashee?).

Really, a smart non-move for him. If Texas isn't greatly improved next year, the whole staff will be gone. And Tech would probably revoke his degree if he went to the T-sips

I was thinking the same thing bama. Is George Cumby even still alive? Haven't really heard much about him in a long time

I think Veritas nailed it. The only thing he was needing to think about is "What happens if Texas goes 4-8 next year?"

The facts are whoever they hire for OC will be who they wanted all along. Charlie Strong was the first choice of course. How could anyone turn down Texas?
I do thing Strong is smart. He tried to hire from the team that had no mercy on Bevo's bunch this season. That's deep thinking going on there in Austin.
They offered Cumby 1.2 million a year even though he didn't call plays at TCU.
Texas started Strong off as one of the highest paid coaches in the country.
Macks probably laughing his *** off with the results.

Look, the basic premise is that no one wants to coach a potential ****** team next year and ruin their reputation. It's obvious that the defense isn't going to change much, the QB's are lower than a crippled crickets *** (heard that on Asstown radio and though it was funny) and so what are you supposed to do? Change Heard from a marginally suck *** QB into a Heisman winner? Swoops is a lost cause no matter what you do with that guy.

Clearly anyone with aspirations of actually moving up in the world aren't going to coach that dirty bomb of a position to try to make the fallout palatable. Cumbie would rather be the junior offensive coach at TCU than the head OC at Texas and no one can blame him. The Tulsa guy? Well, there isn't much left at his level, he may as well take a chance on Strong. He'll be the water boy for KSU following year, but he'll make 1 million this coming year.

Think about this, Cumbie turned down 1.1 Million guaranteed over what 3 years? To be the secondary at TCU?

I do appreciate your kindness. I am very much looking forward to facing the Tulsa OC as we have done on several occasions already. I think the talent level at Tulsa is higher than that at Texas at the moment.

I wouldn't fart in the general direction of either of their QB's and yet I wish them both a long career.

It is my honor good Sir. I am ever the modest poster that lives in enemy territory doing whatever I can to spread the word of the Gospel to those that are willing to hear.

GSX would disagree with my methods, but probably agree with the results. Thank you Perine from Pflugerville!

We like to have fun around here (well most of us) and don't take things too seriously.

I admit, calling me Sir is a part of it, but I did pass the favor first so it is nice to be recognized as a civil member of society. You on the other hand, I must admonish as being quite impudent.

TDSooner is okay in my book and may the ghost of J.B. Hamby grasp thine nuts and squeeze if you disagree.

I've been reading the board for years. Just recently started posting. Seems to be a great bunch of passionate OU fans. I'm not the expert that some are on this board, but I'm always willing to throw my two cents worth into the mix. Boomer Sooner.
