how much water do you/should you drink a day?

There are a bunch of overweight women at work who are trying to drink a gallon of water a day to help them lose weight. I assume it's to suppress their appetite but a gallon seems like a little much.

8 glasses of 8oz of water is what I have read is suggested by most. I would guess I get close or a little more than that every day.

I'm hovering about 60oz per day thanks to these gigantic metal cups. Still get some moderately sweet tea in for dinner though.

I'll contend there are not many beverages worse than lukewarm water. Gotta be on the precipice of freezing for me.

I rarely drink anything but water outside of alcohol. Not sure how much I drink but I would say at least 4 or 5 glasses a day.

I never was a big coke drinker but since New Years I've only allowed myself to drink a coke on the weekend. I'm 20oz of water in today.

I drink at least a gallon or more per day, but I've never found it to suppress my appetite. If those fat ladies want to lose weight, they have to cut calories.

This fits a typical pattern of behavior for fat hens. First of the year, they jump on some sort of diet to lose weight. They will keep it up for a few weeks. By mid-March, they will have all given up. And will still be fat.

They think drinking a gallon of water covers up that full order of chocolate gravy and biscuit and a side of potatoes for breakfast, double serving of lunch, numerous snacks and candy bars throughout the day, and finally the "healthy" supper of Mac and cheese, fried apples, pork chop, and mashed potatoes

Most days, none. Juice, coffee, milk, diet sodas and beer. Probably 32 to 40 ounces of liquid a day sometimes less. Last time I drank water was about 5 days ago. My wife freaks out on me some days because, I will go all day without drinking a thing and then have a drink or two at night. Don't know why but, my intake is less than hers and most people I know, not thirsty most days.

I'm same. I don't drink much of anything and when I do, it's coffee or tea. I don't like drinking water and I don't know why. I'd sooner walk around with a IV than have to stomach water. I eat a lot fruit and I wonder if that's why.

Now, I'm not saying I don't come in after mowing and down a few glasses when parched... but you'll likely never see me toting around my own personal water source.

They need to do more than just drink a lot of water...add 2 pounds of green vegetables to their diet (1 pound cooked and 1 pound raw). The greener the vegetable the better like kale, broccoli or spinach. Those are loaded with nutrients and protein and you literally can't gain weight eating them.

They say nothing tastes better than feeling fit feels, but there sure are a lot of things that taste worse.

WonderBraa, is it true that a heavy fruit diet makes the pee pee taste sweeter? Thanks.

Yea everything but bananas. I also eat 25 packets of sweet n low per day to increase the tastiness.

I carry a gallon jug around clipped to my belt loop so that I'm always prepared to harvest. Using a toilet is like throwing away a 6 -pack of Capri sun.

I'll also add that buying water flavoring makes drinking the stuff much easier. Just gives it a little taste. I run through these things:

Thank goodness you posted the pictures because I'm sure nobody knew what you were talking about when you said water flavoring.

I don't drink as much water as I used to while I'm off from surgery. Just not as thirsty sitting around the house. When I am more active and working, I probably drink at least 2 bottles of water plus refill one of those at work at least a couple times. So at least 64 ounces a day minimum.

I never drink any water unless it is mixed with something like Crystal light. As long as I can remember, drinking straight water gives me heartburn faster then anything. Thought I was alone with this until I looked it up on day and saw that many people have this condition.
As long as it is mixed with something else, drink mix, tea, kool-aid, I am fine.

Saves calories from other drinks, supresses hunger, and has a million other benefits like clear skin.

But.. You have to pee like 12 times a day.

That's usually what stops me from drinking the gallon a day.. But I get pretty close.

A gallon a day. Religiously.

When I was competing, I've done 3 gallons a day leading up to a comp. Talk about brutal.

Due to the Crohn's, I don't drink much else besides water and cold green tea. I drink quite a bit of water. Probably not quite a gallon a day.

I drink more water in summer than winter. I average about 20 oz of water per day, but also drink 2-3 cups of coffee.
