Amazing the swing over the last two days from going frantic with the men's victory to heart sink with the women losing. I've been more invested in the women's team so on the net, this is a drag!

Csb, end of venting

It was going to happen at some point in the tourney and the reactions would be the same no matter when it happened. I watched all the televised games so I don’t need some know-it-all telling me why we’re not better than we are.
The team entertained us for more than four months and left us happy far more often than disappointed. They appreciate the fan support and would never criticize the fans as the fans tend to criticize them.

It's Women's Basketball. Tough watch at times, aside from Caitlin Clark.

When McCabe went down, it left Iowa's top 7 rotation with 5 of the 7 players as frosh or soph. They went 1-13 from 3 in the first game and shot 13% from 3 in the 2nd round game.

Not too mention the terrible free throw shooting. I don't attribute that to poor coaching. Maybe they overachieved in the regular season and it just caught up with the youth (leave your Hannah criticisms at the door).

I feel your pain. I was thinking similar thoughts. I've become invested in both teams and was really looking forward to having both in the Sweet 16. And after the men did such a terrific job in winning against all odds in thrilling fashion, it was that much more of a heartbreaker for the women to lose yesterday. The women had every opportunity to score their own thrilling victory, but blew it at the end of regulation and the first OT. If Chit-Chat, one of the best FT shooters in the country, hits 3 of her last 4 instead of 2, Iowa wins. The Hawkeyes snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, and that's gonna hurt for a long time.

Maybe, despite Jan's best efforts, this team never really recovered from that UCLA disaster. Nobody can know for sure, I guess, but what a disappointment that was. I feel terrible for the young women who did their best, had a great season, but just couldn't quite get it done yesterday.

Not having a top 10 team make the sweet sixteen is certainly a buzzkill, especially since they proved they were the second-best team in the big ten this season.

Unfortunately, a lot of what people will remember is how you finish the year, not all the wins before it. It's human nature.
