Make no mistake about it. The Texas Longhorns are a formidable foe. Don't be misled by their record to date. WV can and will beat the Longhorns but Holgs and all WV fans better not take things for granted. I predict a WV victory by about 3 to 8 points. Entertainment? Yes!

Strong has a history with WVU. They were pumped last year. The good news is we are coming off a good win as opposed to a heart aching loss. Plus we just got bullied last year. Players remember games like that.

I was concerned about the Texas game last year and I am concerned about it this year. Quite often talented, but struggling, teams (like Texas) start putting it together coming down the homestretch of the season.

If we don't make real strides forward in our passing game I am afraid we could be in for a frustrating Saturday.

If you put a gun to my head and said I had to make a prediction I would say that we lose. If we beat these guys it will be because our team has improved over last week's game.

Until you can actually beat a certain team(Texas) I would consider us the underdog, that being said, Texas is not that good....

We've beat Texas and played them tight a couple times.....you are correct that Texas isn't that good this year....this one comes down to if we play to potential or continue to make mountains of mistakes.

Yes.........entertainment. That's all football or any other spectator sport is. You seldom see the entertainment value if your favorite team loses the game. If WV loses a close game to Texas you just may not see it but the Texas fans will.................and vice versa.

agreed. should be a close & competitive game. two teams in need of a win. two teams trying to get bowl eligible in November.

a little separation is TX played ND non-conf, albeit a blowout, and hung tight vs Cal. They do have one signature win vs OU, so yes, they are capable, but inconsistent.

In that case, I guess neither of us are getting much for our entertainment dollar these days...

I'm just really glad this game is a home game for WVU.

If it was at Texas I would be even more worried than I already am.

I think the home game aspect will play a huge part in this. If WVU isn't fired up play Texas at home with a chance to t completely turn this season around something is seriously wrong.

Your quote was not a contradiction. Both parts said WVU would win.
I know my quote wasn't a contradiction, but his was a contradiction. He said WV will beat the Longhorns and then, right after that, he said all WV fans should not assume victory. Is not his prediction that WV will beat UT an assumption?

I'm wondering how the WV run game will do vs TX. I think the plan is fairly simple for TX & that's slow down the run & make the WV pass offense beat you. Find out if Howard can hit intermediate routes for first downs. Test WVU's receivers & see if any emerge.

WV will need to contain TX rushing QB. The other guy Swoopes is more the passer. Don't know what you're going to get.

The Longhorns have been poor on the road though, but WVU has lost many conference home games including the last time TX came to Morgantown.

OH come on....Texas better days lay ahead of them but not this year. They are terrible and have averaged about 13 points a game in true away games this year against teams like Rice and Iowa St. Being 8.5 dogs to a Dana coached team should tell you about all you need to know about how bad they are this year

I wouldn't be surprised by any outcome to be honest.

TX has lost road games 112-10 this season. WV could continue that trend & put the hammer down.

But TX has won 3 of 4 & beat Oklahoma a week after OU beat WV by 20. In same stretch, TX has a nation best 23 sacks. Pressure is sure to come and ball security/turnovers may likely decide it as we've seen many times before.

They got pounded by ND, but came within a PAT of tying Cal. Like WV, they played Ok State neck and neck, but shot themselves in the foot and blew it.

Hard to get a read on this game. TX needs a win in the worst way in order to make a bowl. WV needs two more Ws as well, but can lean on Kansas and Iowa State for those in all likelihood.

Strong is 2-0 vs Holgorsen. Both wins against ranked Holg teams at the time. Last year TX beat WV when it was just 4-5, which is identical to their record now.

TX also won last time in Morgantown. A wild, high-scoring overtime affair that ended with a Paul Millard interception on 4th and goal.
