Is it Stoops that's holding the offense back? Many defensive coaches like to play possession football. Anyone think this is the case?

I would say stoops wouldn't let him run the offense that he wanted. Pat pretty much let all of BBN know when he transferred that Dawson was the scapegoat. Dawson got the last laugh to! Made stoops look like an idiot.

After the press conference today, this was 100% accurate. He doesn't want a fast, high scoring offense. He wants a slow moving offense that keeps his defense fresh and off the field.

This is why Dawson said they didn't see eye to eye.

The strange (and concerning) thing is that Stoops doesn't seem to "want" a high-paced spread attack, but he keeps hiring offensive coordinators that specialize in such and then tries to alter their schemes.

I always thought that was the case. But your are right, if that is what he wants to do he needs to sign OC's who run that type of offense and recruit the type players who fit that offense. But in all fairness to him, there aren't many OCs out there who actually want to run a power run based offense anymore. Its much easier, for most teams anyway, to find 3-4 WR a year who can run and catch than it is to find elite RBs who can break tackles and take the pounding that RBs do in todays game.

That truly seems to be the case. Brother Bob embraced a high octane offense when he took the OK job and I really thought CMS would do the same.

I would rather be on my toes, not my heels. Playing to blow people out, not etch out a win. Fast paced offense, like Ole Miss is is playing, not a 'let's think about this.' We will never have the personnel to be old traditional.

Stoops had a basic checkers game won easily on Saturday night and then decided he wanted to go out and play chess. Problem is, Stoops sucks at chess.
