Tony Perkins. WOW. Tony is building some consistency, and man, what a difference he makes when he's driving and dishing, driving and scoring, leaping and rebounding, and playing in-your-face defense. It's just a shame he didn't get that historic triple double, but what a game he had. And then Kris Murray returned to All-America form, Payton Sandfort officially took over for JBo with his great shooting and the classic kiss to the Indiana crowd. (Since when is that a T? But whatever.) At least Sandfort's T was in jest while that hothead Mike Woodson got teed up at the end of a 22-point blowout. What an embarrassment to college basketball. Woodson has been harping about Fran for a month. Instead, maybe he should have been figuring out how to beat Fran's Hawkeyes, something he's failed at all four times his team has tried--0-4 against Iowa, coach. Any thoughts? Teed up in a blowout. LOL at the sanctimonious loser known as Mike Woodson.
Bloomington has been one of the three toughest places to play in the Big Ten for at least 50 years. Iowa, like most visiting teams, has been screwed there time after time, so silencing the Hoosier fans by blowing their team outta the gym from the opening tip is tremendously gratifying.
And what can you say about Filip Rebraca? The young man just won't back down. If he's not All Big Ten, that would be criminal. At one point in the second half he fought for one of the most impressive rebounds of the season. He just refused to let anyone else grab that ball. Frankly, I'd take Filip over Jackson-Davis, who is a great rebounder, every time out. What a tremendous job Rebraca has done, especially since the conferense season began.
Bottom line: If the Iowa team that roared back against MSU and that showed up tonight shows up every time out, well, March could be a most interesting month.
