Oh boy i gotta good deck story for you. One we can all enjoy.
I remember my first deck. Was a nice summer but winter snuck up & the snow blanketed my deck.
So by gawd I shoveled my deck only to go AGAINST the grain.
Lesson learned.

Waiting on estimate to build a deck. Do you steam your turnips on your grill on your deck? That’s my plan, except I don’t like turnips. But the greens, oh man. Gonna learn how to smoke em on the grill on my deck. Damn carpenter guy, waiting and waiting.

Can’t feel sorry for anyone with a Turnipdabeet user name. You’re jovial. Feel sorry for the opposite actually.
Small apartment deck on our unit of the duplex. Probably 10x10. Raised pretty high up tho. The support joists and beams don't START until 9-10 feet up, which means the railings are about 13 feet up.
Spent two weeks this summer cleaning, powerwashing, sanding and staining the thing. A real ***** to do, especially with intricate and tight railings, not to mention being on a ladder for a good portion of it, which isn't common with 99% of other decks.
.. but it was worth it. Probably added 5-10 years on the life of the deck.

Kinda like, ahh, never mind. I’m too old for that too. But....., nah. Damn, I’m old. Taffy was good before it stole my teeth though. Maybe that’s why......., yeah that’s it! She stole it. But, I didn’t mind, I had plenty. Now, not so much.
I did replace all the older wood on my boat dock with a composite similar to trex. It is nice bc it will last longer and u don’t have to paint etc. However, I prefer the regular wood look something about it IMO. The composite just sorta looks like a plastic deck.
