Defensive gameplan

I think Mike called a terrible game the other night. We have a very good DL and after going back and watching the game again it looked like they were coached to hold up the OL and stay in their lane so that the QB couldnt scramble on them. During the season when the DL went after the qb we has success. Problem the other night the qb wasnt scrambling it was a designed run, we rarely if we brought pressure it was from the outside, never up the middle. Mike needs to find a new home, we have the talent to compete with anyone, just need better coaching

Agreed...It didn't seem to be the same defensive game plan we have used previously against option oriented teams. I wonder how much change occurred after Walker went out because of depth concerns.

I had more questions about our offensive game plan in the second half. I thought we had short and medium route passes open yet chose to go deep down the sidelines too many times...

I agree with you in principle because you sit back and lose aggressiveness. 31 attempts for Watson and only 1 sack. But in the 1st half 10 points were given up by Baker and special teams. Defense only gave up 2 FGs.

If the offense could have done anything in the second half the plan might have had a chance.

OU always seems to play poorly when they aren't aggressive. The DB's even played off several yards and gave Clemson several easy throws. Watch Clemson's DB's and they are right up on the receiver pressuring them during their entire route.

Bad game plan by Mike Stoops. Having your brother as a coordinator has to create problems. It will be interesting to see if a change is made but most likely won't happen after an 11 win season.
