Wife booked flight for 4 people from Cincy to Taiwan back in Jan. for a flight in May. Delta cancelled and doesn’t want to give her back the money. So I am going to sue this sorry company.

Any lawyers on here want to join in this action?

-no need to sue. be persistent. Let them know it's against dot regulations to *not* give cash refunds when *they* cancel a fight. They're hoping you give in and accept a credit/voucher...don't let uo. You'll win.

i say use Twitter or some other global media where they cannot hide. soon they will ask to take it to a direct message. just be accurate and firm when you @ them. it took me about 6 tweets to get a response and i only had about ~500 followers.

Are they crediting her the $ for future flights?

Travelers insurance on big ticket trips is a good idea for future trips. Sorry you’re going through this. Light em up on twitter as noted above.

Just curious, were you flying direct from CVG to Taiwan, or stopping somewhere in Europe or Asia and connecting on another airline? I would assume it would be a SkyTeam partner, but essentially that may be the rub. Irregardless, they owe you all cash, you'll win.

in the past, you would connect through Narita going to Taiwan. nowadays, delta is pushing through Seoul for the bulk of connections. Narita is fine; they have been thermal scanning everyone for at least 15 years. the only time i connected through Seoul, they tried to make me check my backpack due to weight. rubbed me the wrong way so i avoid Seoul at all costs because i never check a bag.

yes, travel insurance seems like an add-on but after the wife breaking her leg and foot in the Bahamas, it is cheap at twice the price. blue cross did not cover the medical bills accrued on the ship.
said it was outside of US and had many hoops to go through that we gave up trying to get reimbursed.

I got refunded by two different airlines for flights for this week. They wanted to give us credit. All I said was the government said you were supposed to refund since you were getting the bailout. Changed their story got money back no travelers insurance. Also got my money back from Cancun resort.

You probably want to double check your contract of carriage but I have never heard of an airline refusing to give a refund when the flight is cancelled. It's different if you choose to cancel, for example, if the pandemic makes the vacation worthless because there's no point in going, but if Delta cuts the flight it should be a refund, period. The same thing happened to me recently but I just took the credit and applied it for October. If I had wanted the money back, and been refused, I would be contacting an attorney immediately.

No, she was flying from Cincy to Seattle then on to Japan then to Taiwan. Over $4000 dollars. She doesn’t need a voucher because when she checked dates for future tickets Delta had raised the price 500 a ticket. These airlines are criminals. I told her to sue the bastards so we are. If it takes my 4000 dollars to run these asses out of business, so be it, money well spent.

Great we can all go back to busses and ocean liners to get where we need to go.

Honestly, I understand you’re pissed but what all steps have you taken to get the money back? You’ve received some good suggestions on here.

I had four Southwest tickets to Tampa for next weekend(weekend after Memorial Day).

I bought them March 5. I was hoping for some mass refund announcement, but I broke down and took the credit last week.

If they reschedule a flight, is that the same as canceling? Ours were rescheduled three times.

I never bothered to fight it. I have a uncle in Sacramento. He bought a single Southwest ticket for my oldest to come out and visit him for the week before Memorial Day.

That flight was rescheduled several times also.

He did fight but didn’t get anywhere. His credit though is good for 9 months longer than mine.

If they cancel your flights, you're entitled to a full refund. Don't accept "Delta dollars". Keep calling.

You have a lawyer willing to represent you on a case worth $4000? If there is not a class action, there is no money to be made by the lawyer.

Happened to me with NCL. Supposed to have left tomorrow for a Scandinavian Cruise, but of course it was cancelled only weeks ago. NCL says we will get a credit for a future cruise and I said, "what if you're bankrupt by then?" She said she was only going by what she was instructed to do and I told her I'm going by what my attorney says he would do if you don't give my 8K back. She put me on hold and came back to tell me that my full refund would happen within 90 days. So we'll see.

light them up on Twitter. worked for me.

It can be if you have alot of followers. Everyone has a social media score so if it's low, they probably won't do much since it's just a refund issue. Unless, it's something that will go viral, like a baggage handler pissing it on your bag.

90 days is total BS. If you used a major credit card you can dispute the charge, even if it's past the allowable time to dispute it. The funds will get credited back to you right away. This is an unfulfilled service.

Delta is slammed right now. Lurking the FlyerTalk forums, you'll see that there are many people who have been waiting over 30 days and still haven't seen the credit applied to their credit card. We canceled our trip 2 weeks ago, still haven't seen the credit to our card. We have the emails though, so we'll keep an eye on it.

If it were me I would not wait more than 30 days, I would call my credit card issuer and have them reverse the charge. You can't let their problem become your problem.

normally, i would agree but i am a nobody in twitterverse. only had a few hundred followers at the time but i was relentless at tweeting them. eventually, they will respond to get it off of the stream.
i cannot believe that i am going to say this, but i also agree with deefense. take it out of their hands.

I'm assuming you've already disputed it with your credit card company?

I can get your money back for you. It will cost you $4500 but you will get your $4000 back and only be out $500. Let me know.
