Excellent fight but the move up in weight proved to be a bit much for Connor. I always felt if it went to the ground that Diaz would take it. Still, a great fight.

that would be Nate Diaz not Nick Diaz. Nate is Nick's younger brother and not quite as good as Nick is

i first thought the same thing. UFC brass had a tough night. Holm got choked out too also. Both underdogs won at plus 250

War Diaz! Great fight!

Keep in mind that Nate had been fighting at 155. I'm guessing the agreement for 170 was due to the short notice Nate had for the fight. I'd imagine that their non fighting/natural weight is probably pretty close to one another.

Nate said that he asked for the fight to be at 160. Connor lied and said that wasn't true. Dana White later confirmed Nate did ask for the fight to be at 160.

The results of Saturday really make me wonder what UFC will do with their card for UFC 200. You would think that they might pump up the Rousey/Holm rematch and then also McGregor and Dos Anjos, or even McGregor/Lawler. However, with the Holm loss the Rousey/Tate angle won't have as much sparkle since this will be their third fight. McGregor and Dos Anjos could still happen, but some of the luster may be gone from that after the McGregor loss. Now, I just don't know if UFC has the stars to really bring in a huge crowd for UFC 200.

Thoughts?

My prediction is GSP is on the UFC 200 Card along with Connor McGregor fighting Frankie Edgar for the 145 Belt. I also could see Jon Jones being the main event possibly fighting after he wins his fight at UFC 197.

Conor is extremely lucky that was not RDA as he would not have let go of that choke.

It was a great fight as Conor was putting it on Diaz but ultimately he could not take anywhere near as much punishment as the Diaz brothers can. We learned Conor has a very average chin at best and that he hasn't a clue on the ground. That does not bode well for his future. I think 2 years from now he'll be a middle of the road fighter.

Jose will literally kill him after the Edgar fight and I am not entirely sure Conor can beat Frankie.

Think Loyota Machida. I'm thinking it will turn out that this is Conor's career trajectory.

I think it goes to show the UFC doesn't protect it stars. Consider this, two of the biggest stars in the UFC have lost their most recent fights (Mcgregor and Rousey). And then you look at the contenders that Jon Jones had to fight for the Title when he was the champ. The UFC doesn't give any of their Champions an easy fight.

No, College, they try to protect them they just aren't very good at it. At this point I think the UFC needs new management. At a minimum a new team of match-makers. They are selling their long term success for short term profit. Way too many immediate rematches.

Bottom Line: PLEASE FOCUS ON THE SPORT INSTEAD OF INDIVIDUAL STARS! Make good fights and the people will come. Stop trying to manufacture the next Floyd Mayweather.

I dont know he has an average chin, hes taken some shots before. But hes definitely clueless on the ground. If he doesnt fix that problem, and soon, hes in real trouble because that will be everyones approach to facing him from hereon. Bad news is I dont know he can get competent on the ground fast enough, this late in the game.

Guess he shouldve been working on bjj instead of spending so much time with the movement coach.

Another thing to watch, is Conor keeps his hands extremely low. Hes due to catch a big one shot KO anytime now.

This was his ultimate doom. His hands were extremely low, and have been in recent fights, and it was only a matter of time before he was tagged. Diaz tagged him and stunned him and it completely changed the fight. Had McGregor kept his hands up a bit then Diaz may not have tagged him and the fight may have continued to go on McGregor's favor. I don't know if McGregor has his hands down because that is his style or if it was just some cockiness. Whatever the reason, it definitely needs to change going forward.

Every fight Ive watched of his, his hands are low. Some fighters do that I guess. Anderson Silva comes to mind.
