Went to a live local play today. The Christmas carol is as relevant today as it was 180 years ago. Of course they had a full bar as well. Merry Christmas everyone.
My wife and I went to see A Christmas Carol in Durham a few years ago. They made a few changes and it was terrible. We walked out long before it was over.

How sad. This was locally performed and Mr Dickens would be very proud of their endeavor.

This was a pretty major production at Durham Performing Arts Center. This version is a yearly tradition around here I guess, but we didn't care for it.

If you don't like living next to me you can always move.
Nobody likes the guy. His latest complaint was a street all got together and put 7 foot Santas in their front yards. Pretty cool and everyone loved it. HoA told him to pound sand. We're trying to get him to move. Besides, I was here first.

Living in a neighborhood where everyone’s on the same page: priceless. (Yes.)

God bless us, every one. Among movies, the George C Scott one is the best, love it.
For as many remakes as there have been I tend to like most of them. Alistar Simm version is my favorite. But both versions with George C Scott and Patrick Stewart have been excellent. But then I'm a sucker for a good redemption story. 🤷‍♂️

Michael Caine as Scrooge with the Muppets is as good as it gets!
I will watch pretty much any version of Christmas Carol and love it. The Odd Couple’s episode with Oscar as Scrooge is amongst my favorites.

A local theater in our area put on a production of A Christmas Carol every Christmas season for 25 years running. It was really very good, at least the last few years when I saw it. The same guy portrayed Scrooge all 25 years!

This year, “Scrooge” finally retired. So instead they put on a production of the old Muppets special “Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas.” It was fantastic, hopefully they start bringing this one back every year.

This place also has an open bar 😎

The Guthrie is a wonderful regional theater in Minneapolis. Many prominent actors have performed there. They do A Christmas Carol every year. My wife would go every year but I draw the line on every other. Saw it last week and this year’s performance was probably the best I’ve seen. When Scrooge shows up at nephew Fred’s home at the end, cue the waterworks. Gets me every time.

Does he post here? Reminds me of the nature of some of the posts and posters …..
No. Although there are similar folks, this guy is a one of a kind. He is unique in that he has been able to turn nearly all of the community against him. In addition, I don't think he has any interests outside of whining and complaining. If he follows a sports team, it would be Rutgers, which makes sense.

Went to the grandkids' youth theatre presentation of the musical yesterday (grandson was Tiny Tim, granddaughter was a Cratchit kid) - not bad; pretty entertaining.

My favorite is The Muppets Christmas Carol

I find myself watching the version with Patrick Stewart as Scrooge every year. Although I like them all and finally purchased the book. Now if only I could find where I hid it.

There are so many great adaptations of A Christmas Carol. I even saw one on TV last year (Hallmark, Lifetime, ???) where the three ghosts accidentally ‘scrooged’ the wrong person and have to go back and fix it. Not as powerful, but quite clever and funny, and with a lot of charm.

I try to read Dickens’ A Christmas Carol every now and then. It really is a great novella. Also, if anyone is looking for another classic Christmas story to read, I recommend Nicolai Gogol’s The Night Before Christmas, which I think was originally called Christmas Eve. It’s about a blacksmith who battles the Devil to win the heart of a girl on Christmas Eve.

I have only read Gogol's Dead Souls. Thanks for the recommendation. Russian lit can be challenging, if only for names that don't sound the least bit like Smith, Jones, or Johnson!
