Went to a live local play today. The Christmas carol is as relevant today as it was 180 years ago. Of course they had a full bar as well. Merry Christmas everyone.
God bless us, every one. Among movies, the George C Scott one is the best, love it.Went to a live local play today. The Christmas carol is as relevant today as it was 180 years ago. Of course they had a full bar as well. Merry Christmas everyone.

My wife and I went to see A Christmas Carol in Durham a few years ago. They made a few changes and it was terrible. We walked out long before it was over.Went to a live local play today. How sad. This was locally performed and Mr Dickens would be very proud of their endeavor. My wife and I went to see A Christmas Carol in Durham a few years ago. They made a few changes and it was terrible. We walked out long before it was over.

If you don't like living next to me you can always move.My neighbor is a real-life, modern-day Scrooge.
Nobody likes the guy. His latest complaint was a street all got together and put 7 foot Santas in their front yards. Pretty cool and everyone loved it. HoA told him to pound sand. We're trying to get him to move. Besides, I was here first. If you don't like living next to me you can always move.![]()

I wonder if it ends the same wayWent to a live local play today. The Christmas carol is as relevant today as it was 180 years ago. Of course they had a full bar as well. Merry Christmas everyone.
For as many remakes as there have been I tend to like most of them. Alistar Simm version is my favorite. But both versions with George C Scott and Patrick Stewart have been excellent. But then I'm a sucker for a good redemption story.God bless us, every one. Among movies, the George C Scott one is the best, love it.

I agree. In our neighborhood, nobody even talks with anyone else. Nothin’ could be finer.Living in a neighborhood where everyone’s on the same page: priceless. (Yes.)![]()
I'm probably weird, but I think the Muppets version is great.Michael Caine as Scrooge with the Muppets is as good as it gets!
I will watch pretty much any version of Christmas Carol and love it. The Odd Couple’s episode with Oscar as Scrooge is amongst my favorites.
I also think the animated Magoo Christmas Carol is pretty good as well.I'm probably weird, but I think the Muppets version is great.
Finally, someone puts up the quintessential version and lead actor of A Christmas Carol. J. Quincy Magoo for Ebenezer Scrooge. THANK YOU!!!I also think the animated Magoo Christmas Carol is pretty good as well.
Does he post here? Reminds me of the nature of some of the posts and posters …..My neighbor is a real-life, modern-day Scrooge.
No. Although there are similar folks, this guy is a one of a kind. He is unique in that he has been able to turn nearly all of the community against him. In addition, I don't think he has any interests outside of whining and complaining. If he follows a sports team, it would be Rutgers, which makes sense.Does he post here? Love Scrooge McDuck's line, "In his will he left me enough money to pay for his tombstone....and I had him buried at sea!"I'm partial to the Scrooge McDuck version myself. Watch it every year.
I have only read Gogol's Dead Souls. Thanks for the recommendation. Russian lit can be challenging, if only for names that don't sound the least bit like Smith, Jones, or Johnson! There are so many great adaptations of A Christmas Carol. I even saw one on TV last year (Hallmark, Lifetime, ???) where the three ghosts accidentally ‘scrooged’ the wrong person and have to go back and fix it. Not as powerful, but quite clever and funny, and with a lot of charm.
I try to read Dickens’ A Christmas Carol every now and then. It really is a great novella. Also, if anyone is looking for another classic Christmas story to read, I recommend Nicolai Gogol’s The Night Before Christmas, which I think was originally called Christmas Eve. It’s about a blacksmith who battles the Devil to win the heart of a girl on Christmas Eve.
