Diego Pavia said he was robbed of the Heisman

His ATTITUDE was a major factor in him not winning. Perect example was how he handled NOT WINNING!!

I'm glad Mendoza won because he didn't politic for it. He just played football. Pavia's been making a fool of himself for weeks just begging for the award. Does silly interviews where he identifies himself as the best player in the history of college football.

There is a very small handful of players who have been so overwhelmingly good that they were gonna win the Heisman no matter how douche-y they were. Pavia was good, very good, but not transcendentally good. I have no doubts he would have won if he just kept his nose down and won with grace. You can be cocky and win, but he was abrasively cocky and that just doesn't sell.

he was robbed...he deserved it hands down out of that bunch.
more impact on a program than any one player in memory for any program.
Not all of his "impacts" were positive.
What kind of impact did Mendoza have on Hoosiers?
Did you go look at their stats?
How does Pavia's stats stack up to Mendoza's?
How about the stats for the OSU guy?

I’m not gonna look up anything, just going off memory here but Vanderbilt won, one game of consequence this year that Pavia was a factor in and that was TN. In their two biggest games he didn’t get it done. All of Vandy did nothing against Texas for 3 quarters and he had the biggest mistakes in their loss to Alabama. You gotta play big when it matters for team accomplishments and individual accolades. He’s the unquestioned leader of a very experienced team but remember he’s also playing only because of a court said he could. He’s a good college QB but probably no better than Conner Shaw.

Poor Connor, cursed with a name that few can spell correctly.

I'm sure his agent got ahold of him and explained that him being his natural self was going to cost him a lot of money. The NFL doesn't want known a**holes.
If they think they can with with you, they care nothing about the character.

Its ok. These days you can say whatever you want to anyone. As long as you say you're sorry on Twitter. That makes everything all right. I'm sure someone else posted that for him.

True. Unbelievable that he would swing all the way from "F them" to "please forgive me". He should've just gone with the old standby: Someone hacked my account and posted the first one.

They don't like to hire known PR problem players. The thugs they sign generally aren't open about being thugs.
One of the examples that comes to mind is Greg Hardy. Maybe I am misremembering but seems like Dallas signed him after he had domestic voilence charges against him. They were later dropped but I don’t think that was the case yet when they brought him on.

I'm torn.

Part of me wanted to see him win for the entertainment value of watching him strut to the podium, adorned in his Mr. T Starter Kit and giving his acceptance speech with his mother by his side... while twerking her little heart out through the entirety of it.

Having seen he has apologized, but we are conditioned in that one cannot help wonder if the apology was calculated and encouraged by his handlers. Pavia has been at the center of threats and lawsuits to allow him to play. He took a wonderful story (Vandy winning and contending) and made himself front and center and I agree with one poster, this does smell like a Manziel situation (those two are tight as I understand). By being selfish, it makes me, for one, thankful that Vandy is not in the CFP and also makes me want to see them "quickly" plummet back down to below mediocrity. This makes me very thankful for Mendoza (and his testimony), but also humble QB's of the past (Tebow, Connor Shaw, Chad Pennington, etc.) who always put their team first and exhibited true leadership both on and off the gridiron ....

That’s not the criteria for winning the Heisman Trophy. Instead, it’s being the most "outstanding college football player in the U.S.” Sorry - he ain’t it!

Pavia had about 200 more yds in the air and about 600 more on the ground. Mendoza had a slightly better QBR. He was third in the country. Pavia was 4th. Pavia threw 2 more interceptions. Indiana being undefeated as a team probably gives Mendoza the edge when you have candidates that are this close.

You can't completely blame him for his stupidity.... His mom looks and acts like an ill-famed pig. I'm sure he didn't have much good influence in his life.

I really liked watching Pavia play the last two years. But acting out like a badly behaved child will certainly tarnish his reputation. Talent and character don’t often go hand in hand.

Mendoza was 2nd in passing rating, Pavia 4th. And Mendoza threw 6 more TDs with less attempts.

Unless Pavia can convince a judge to let him play college football forever, he will be forgotten within a couple of years.

He was kind of the underdog darling of college football heading into the Heisman ceremony. He absolutely vaporized all of that. His apology rings hollow. He says he didn't handle the emotions of the moment well. That might be understandable if he shot of a tweet that was later deleted or something. But he went out clubbing with an electronic sign that said "f**k Indiana", and that's on top of his social media post blasting the voters. You can't explain that away.

The last NFL comp I saw on him was a Tommy DeVito type backup. He will get punished in the draft, for sure. He's not NFL starter caliber and not worth the risk of a PR nightmare.
