My alma mater may be going from a college to a university, and this having to get a name change. One of the primary options for a name is University of Lynchburg. Which means they will be a U of L, and their primary color is red. Do I disassociate with the school if this happens?

Two other possibilities that were mentioned by the school was:

Lynchburg University - which is incredibly dumb as it is in the same town as the much bigger and more well known Liberty University)
and the ever so nauseating sounding The University of Lynchburg - you just know that "The" will be emphasized like Ohio Sate pompously does!

Well, before I can make a suggestion I have to know more about the geography and topography of the area. Is the landscape bushy or is it bare? Are there mountains nearby with a good area for motorboating? Or is the terrain flat? Also gotta think about a good mascot. Any signs of moose knuckle or camel toe prints in the area?

Do they do any kind of dual-tuition system where, say, a man and an older relative might split the cost of tuition? I'm sure the younger man would get more out of the degree, but he could still charge the older relative a similar amount as his. Does that exist at this fine institution?

I say set yourself apart and choose a different article besides the. "A" University of Lynchburg has a nice ring to it. Or how about some street cred and just name it the Lynch. It could help connect them to some of those old time southern traditions.
