I’m lazy and don’t feel like going back and looking at what top 5 teams lost this week.

Marquette lost they wont jump us. I would say Florida is going to jump into the top 10 and they probably should they have looked really good.
I hope note but their loss was to a nearly ranked the same team in Iowa St. so I could see it happening.

I can't see Marquette jumping us w/ a loss this week...I'm guessing 5
I hope so, but Marquette's loss was to Iowa St. so their loss was to a basically equally rated team. I don't think the Clemson loss was to a bad team at all, but still a loss to at the time unranked team.

The positive from the Gonzaga win outweighs the negative from the Clemson loss so Kentucky should stay put considering what all the other top teams did. Of course, they will probably jump Duke up above Kentucky since they beat Auburn.

The good news is that it won't be much lower than 5. We effectively will go into SEC play no lower than 10 IMO. UofL won't be easy, don't want to guarantee any wins, same with OSU.. I'd say the odds are slightly in favor of us probably losing 1 more before SEC.. but even IF that happens, we're still in very good shape. (And I also think there's a great chance we go 2-0).

I also love that the early SEC schedule is favorable for us. Florida, Alabama, and TAM come to us, and we don't really go to anyone very tough until maybe @ vandy nearly in February.

Clemson may be ranked this week too. It’s not like we lost to Evansville. AND we got a top 10 win away at a semi-neutral court.

Really after UT, you could just put the next 10 schools in a hat and pick them thst way. Although Auburn has played a really tough schedule with just 1 loss.

100% yes. A win against Duke and Gonzaga is as good a resume as anyone and 3 teams ranked above us or right below us also lost.

I don't disagree, I even said in this thread that I didn't consider Clemson to be a bad loss at all, but I still imagine AP will see a loss to Iowa St in better terms than a loss to Clemson at this point in time.

Edit - To be clear I want to see UK be #1 or always rising in the poles. Indicating a drop in the ranking is no knock on our team, it's my take on how the AP voters will view the events of the week.

We will either stick at 4 or at worst drop to 5. That win last night without two PGs against Gonzaga at Seattle with a raucous and smug crowd was huge to erase the Tuesday night road bump.

Auburn lost - they should drop at least one spot. KU lost to a pretty pedestrian Creighton team, no way they should be ahead of us. So we could even creep up a spot.

Either way, we aren't likely to drop out of the top 5.

they cant drop us far after last night.
i mean we beat the greatest team, at least since 2001, and the greatest player to ever play college ball (flagg).
then went across country and beat a top 5 team on the road.
thats got to count for something

5. PUKE
Maybe, but I can't see Auburn dropping that much with their other good wins. (or should say UNC supposedly was good at the time)
Auburn has beaten IA ST
Lot of different cases could be made for a lot of different rankings for the top 10.
Who knows maybe Oregon jumps more than expected, no losses and two good wins against TXAM and AL.
All I can say is go Missouri and take out Kansas today and we can drop them out of the way and this top 5 question anyways.

Polls are irrelevant.

What really matters is UK has 2 damn those are excellent wins come selection Sunday. Gonzaga is a potential 1 or 2 seed, as is Duke. A lot of that is due to weakness of their conferences IMO but those teams having good records will help with UKs seeding n the ncaa tournament.

Polls are important for many, so why not just let people talk about it?

Remember as a kid, getting the Sunday paper, going to the Sports stats section and combining the polls and averaging them to come up with my "own". Is Sagarin ratings still even around or has Ken Pom or the NET supplanted that one?
