Do you enjoy the holidays? Or dread them?

I've never been a Grinch. I've always loved the holidays.

From Labor Day to New Years is my favorite time of the year.

Sitting here watching Charlie Brown Halloween makes me all nostalgic for days gone by.

Love this time of the year.

In my 20s and early 30s never really cared for this time of year due to my love of warm weather and sunshine. But now that I have a family September through Jan 1st is definitely my favorite time of the year

As an only child, I generally love them. It's a good time to see family I don't often see.

That said, I can totally understand why people dread them. So much to do in so little time. And as you get older, family gets complicated.

I love the holidays but it means a lot more work at my place of business. Of course the good thing is usually all the OT I can handle. More money means more presents under the tree.

Holiday season for us has always been a non-event. Since retail started advertising it the first of October, I'm sort of over it before it arrives. Since moving to CO, we've skied on Xmas Day and that's become our family tradition. NYE is completely a non-event.

What about neither? The only family I particularly want to be around is my parents and brother, and we see each other pretty regularly since we all still live in the same city. We never see much of the extended family anymore, once my grandparents died the whole gathering together around holidays thing mostly died off with them.

A maternal aunt and uncle try to have a Christmas season gathering at their home, but it’s like 1-2 weeks before Christmas and it’s just not the same given quite a few people don’t make it every year because of work. It’s still boring as hell. And with my dietary restrictions the way they are now with all the stuff I’m allergic to, I don’t really trust anyone’s home cooking other than my own and my parents.

It’s great. The only problem is balancing Santa presents (unwrapped, btw) between kids so that one doesn’t get the shaft. I’ll take that.

This is my wife’s biggest concern. When our youngest was 1, she’d worry that the other two would think something’s up if he didn’t get as much as they did. Ridiculous.

I have divorced parents and both of their mothers are still living so they still do extended family holidays. So there's Christmas with Mom, Christmas at Grandma's, Christmas with Dad, Christmas with Granny's and that's just my side of the family. Needless to say with a 2 year old and 6 month old we'll be disappointing some people this year.

I love each and every holiday. And I enjoy them separately. That means that I WILL NOT put up Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving.

We can't have kids. Both of our fathers have passed on. Both of our mothers are a challenge. Her brother is a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic. I have a mediocre relationship with my sister.

We just want to get through the holidays.

My wife and I decided to bite the bullet one Christmas and tell all relatives we would be staying home with our kids on Christmas day. Previously, our kids would get up, open Santa gifts then rush around to get to grandma's house more than 200 miles away. When we decided to stay home, our kids thanked us saying they wanted to stay home for Christmas from that point on.

Different ages have different needs/wants. As they grow, it all evens out in the end. Too much fretting over making sure each kid gets the exact same amount of $ spent or number of gifts.

We did that too about 8 years or so ago. Folks can come visit us on Christmas Day if they want. I will be in my pajama pants and on the couch, however. Feel free to stop by.

For us, Christmas was for our kid. We stayed home and anyone that wanted to come was welcome. I always felt like our daughter needed the time to be with us and to have time to enjoy all of her presents. My mom used to complain that we should come to her house. She would decline our invitations because she said she needed to be there for my little brother. He is a grown man and usually worked on Christmas for overtime and then went to his gf's home.

I like the Christmas Eve service at night and Christmas morning...but that's about it. PJ pants and couch by noon if things go according to plan.

Favorite is Thanksgiving....its Christmas without all the stress & hullabaloo. Just eat a [poop]load and watch football.

Well, I really enjoyed them when the kids were young and all at home. Now we have them all over the country and the world, and it’s about impossible to get them all together.

yep. To my wife's chagrin, we've agreed to tell them we want them to have Christmas at home with their kids...but to take notice that grandma and grandpa reserve the right to drop in.
