Do you follow Kentucky?

On some level we all do, I mean do you REALLY follow them?

I didn't watch last nights game, I have no interest in it. I know that they played last night and that it was a close game therefore I didn't listen to any talk radio this morning.....Jody Demling or Drew Deener. Well, technically I did turn them on for a moment but when it was confirmed that they were going to be talking about last night's game I turned it off and I am now working with no radio in the background. I just am not interested in hearing it.

When I watch the news and the sports comes on, I pause the u-verse channel when they get to uk, do something else for 2 minutes and then hit play and FF through the uk coverage or if I'm already behind when I start watching I'll FF through all of the uk talk. I just have no interest in hearing about them....they are in another city and not my team.

I've seen threads on various boards today with many responses painstakingly breaking down every call or play in last nights game and if they watched every second of game and like they are fascinated by every thing about it. I hope they lose but other than that I have no interest in watching it or following it at all. I almost never watch uk basketball. I did see a couple of minutes of the Kansas game and the first 2-3 minutes of the UCLA game and that's it.

Where do you fall on the uk watching scale....are you a 10 who watches all their games and listens to all the uk radio talk, are you a 5, somewhere in the middle or are you like me a 0-1 who basically never pays any attention to them at all and even avoids having to hear about them?

I actually meant this for the basketball board and thought I was posting it there. I'll copy and paste this over there, maybe a mod can delete this one.

I don't even know their schedule. Literally. I don't care. At all. When I pick up the morning news/sports, I am only interested if UK is mentioned as having had a very tough time or lost.

The program sickens me.

No, I do not follow them at all. In fact, someone asked me this same question the other day and as I thought about it, I have only seen UK football and basketball games that were against UofL. That's probably been the case for 10-12 years now. I tried to name some of their FB players off the top of my head the other day and I came up with about 5, and those were ones I was familiar with from reading this message board ( Hatcher, Elam,Barker...). I only know their basketball players names from having to listen to their fans talk about them all the time. I know UK fans in Jefferson County are obnoxious and always trying to prove a point, but the big blue fans here in Eastern Ky. are intolerable(and sad) because it's their life, their identity, and their self worth. Hence I don't pay attention to them in any sport because I want to be the opposite of them. However, I don't really have anything against the UK athletic dept. and the players. I just can't stand to be around their fans, even the ones that I would otherwise like. The University of Kentucky, which the majority of their fans know nothing about , is the most important thing in their life.

Not at all. Didn't know they were playing last night till I saw the final score on Twitter.

Don't follow and don't avoid. A good matchup and I will watch just like with any other team. If I am bored I may watch. I saw online that they were playing and it was close but I didn't turn it on. Another day I might have. It just depends on how I feel.

Admittedly, if they lose I enjoy it but what they do has no bearing about how I feel about my Cards.

Some fans' entire season is based on what UK does and vice versa which is what the OP is getting at. Like the OP said we all keep up to a degree. If you listen to local radio or post online you can't help but to see and hear what is going on. But every fan (of both fan bases) follows the other school to different degrees.

I have been to one UK game in my life that did not involve UofL. I got free tickets to the sweet 16 in Charlotte given to me. I liked Pitino ball so I went. I was living in Greensboro at the time. Unlike UK fans (Slapdicks), I did not wear UofL gear. Since this is the football board I will say I have never attended a UK fallball game that we were not a participant. I really am not that concerned with them. I do however have many arguments with BBN in comment sections.

Not intentionally. It's hard not to hear or read about them, however, especially if you live in this godforsaken state.

Like CardX said, not intentionally. It gets my attention when I hear about them but I don't look for news on them or follow anything about them.

No, just read a little about them before the games between us. I desire to know nothing more than that about UK!

Not at all, can't name or identify their players in any sport. Couldn't tell you when they play except when they play the CARDS

I follow them some (football mainly) - at about the same level that I now follow Florida State, Clemson, NC State, Boston College, Syracuse, Wake Forest, and Virginia - the other seven teams that show up on our football schedule every year.

Hell No--don't care. I want them to lose in any sport. I don't go to their website. As I work in Frankfort and have to put with their idiocy everyday -- I'm not interested in them. Just Lose Baby!!!

Honestly, my answer is NO. The CARD is the one and only. I more to do than watch them, or so says my wife. You all know the saying "Happy wife, Happy life".

I watch them in football as I do any opponent who's on TV.

I seldom, very seldom, watch regular season BB by anyone other than the Cards.

Nope not at all. I think like most of you replying and many of my friends that I talk to, if it ain't UofL I don't care. I don't watch or keep up with any other teams except for my Cards. In the end, unlike Yewkay fans, I have a life and too many things going on to care about anything other than the Cards. I think that is the difference between the too fan bases. We have lives and don't care about sports while they are consumed with it.
