Do you have anything cool planned for Coach Pope's first game?

I'm having family over to watch UK vs. Wright State and I'm ordering a few pizzas.

Do you have anything cool planned for Coach Pope's first game? Who's attending it in person? =)

I might be the only one but I can’t stand watching games with other people. I’ll be parked on my couch posting to the game thread on the commercial breaks. Really excited for this season to get started. Ready to put the old behind us and get on with the new!

And then you have old people (like in my family) that proudly show their 'casual fan' card. "Oh Boy, that Cal-ee-puree sure has them working on all cylinders" after some OOC cupcake win that accomplished nothing for the players or the program.

That’s when I get all grumbly and watch it on my phone in the garage.

I usually like to watch games alone, but to me a new coach is a big deal, especially since he's an all-time UK great, which is why I want to watch the first game with family. I hope it's a great memory for them. =)

I’ll be looking to buy tickets for any reasonably affordable game now that Pope’s made it so exciting again. Don’t expect to find many affordable for that same reason. Short of that I’ll generally go to some packed place where everyone screams at the game together. Charlie Brown’s Restaurant in Chevy Chase is pretty good for that. I’ve never been to the KSR bar but I imagine it’s the same way.

Count me in as another who’s better off watching alone. I think Cal made me a miserable SOB with UK quite honestly. I’m hoping to get back to being enjoyable at game time.

My wife (fiancee at time) tried to watch the 2018 UK vs KSU sweet 16 game with me. I threw stuff at tv and empty beer cans against wall. I blame PJs ft shooting or lack there of.

Yeah, she never watches with me anymore lol

My wife and three kids are down with my antics. 2 or three other friends understand that I may go to the garage for radio coverage to change the MOJO.
Otherwise, not so much.
2 of my progeny usually go to most of the games.
GBB!

Our first game is the night before the election. So, if things blow up, we’ll be undefeated.

Oh crap. I didn't even know the date.

Well boys and girls, I'll be drinking water downed mixed drinks on a Carnival Cruise while watching then instead of the beer.

I will be traveling for work so I’ll need to make time to watch it. I’m a bit nervous for Pope. I have such high hopes and he has done and said everything right up to this point since being hired. I feel like I went all in on Pope after the initial freak out that he was hired. Please Pope beat the teams your supposed to beat, by a lot and beat most of the teams we want you to beat, by a lot.

Oh wow, I'm glad someone started this topic as I've been planning this out for months.

First, I've got a bottle of Buffalo Trace I'll be cracking open a couple of hours before tip-off. I intend to get nice and saucy with a pinch of the nasty if you known what I mean. Once I'm feeling the right amount of frisky and the unbearable, unrelenting shame hasn't set in yet, I'll be slipping into a literal white wedding dress. To go along with the dress, I've also designed a headband with a strap that will be holding a set of truck nuts/hitch balls that are painted blue that will be dangling right in front of my face while I'm adorned in all white for my special day. Then, a little bit before tip-off, a preacher I've hired will be there to conduct an actual wedding ceremony. I've invited everyone in the neighborhood to come, even that dirtbag Rod down the street who is a U of L fan. Ugh, I hate that turd!!! During the ceremony, the preacher will say "...and now I pronounce you Mrs. Mark Pope'sBigBlueBalls" and then I'll pull down the truck nuts and give 'em a big wet kiss and the crowd will applaud wildly. Many tears will be shed.

Next, comes the extra-curricular activities. In my back yard I've set up a slide that leads into a literal ball pit the type that you'd used to see at McDonald's back in the day. It will have hundreds of blue rubber balls dedicated to Coach Marky Mark. As everyone gathers around, I'll climb to the top of the slide, strip to the nude, and then slide down into the ball pit. The game will be broadcasting from a projector in my back yard onto the side of my house, and I plan on spending the next two hours of the game writhing around in the ball pit with the rest of my Buffalo Trace and soaking in Pope's first win. Just a fun way to celebrate the new era. Go Cats!

No worries, Coach Pope cares as much as we do. The program is in good hands. GO BIG BLUE!

I don't know about the first game, but I'm definitely tuning into BBM, when I mostly wrote those off the last few years. I just want to see the energy like it was for Cal's first year. Definitely going to buy a nice bottle of bourbon and take it all in.
