Have 11 in the house with 6 of them at the ready in various locations throughout the house.Just wondering.
Nope. I have 6 guns, but none I can get to that quickly. I have a two year old that’s into everything and I keep them put up
Man I know. Anything can happen, but where I live I am wayyyy more concerned with my son getting hurt on a gun than my fear of my home being broken into.Good call. Last week in Bristol, TN a 4 year old shot and killed a younger sibling. How can people be that touching careless?

Not comparing you, but reminds me of a customer I had back in the 80's. I have a small manufacture/wholesale business and he would pick up product ever 3 or 4 weeks. Said he was retired and had heart problems. He was new in the business and I introduced him to a few people who could help him, so he was always very nice to me.Have 11 in the house with 6 of them at the ready in various locations throughout the house.
Well, I don't live in a mansion but, I do have 4 dogs. Not comparing you, but reminds me of a customer I had back in the 80's. Rumors abounded he was mafia, so I figured he was laundering $ or something like that. 95% of the time, he came but brought a driver. Other times he just sent a driver. His drivers told me he lived in a mansion on the Ohio River in a little town near Louisville (forgot the name). They said he kept lots of cash in the house, a loaded weapon in every room and had 6 Rottweillers running loose in his house.
He was about 6'3 and 275. He told me a story once. Said he used to be a debt collector for Harrah's Casino in Las Vegas. He said a federal judge from St Louis skipped town on the casino owing 50 grand and they sent him to collect. Said he knocked on the judge's door and asked for the money. The judge said no. He said he was scared of what the judge could do to him, but there was no way he was going back to the casino and tell them he didn't get the money, so he was persistent and the judge paid.
He said before he could get to the airport, he was surrounded by cop cars and they took him to jail. Said he sat in jail a couple of days, but the casino called a supreme court judge who called the federal judge who dropped the charges and paid the debt. Said the casino gave him a 10 grand bonus for doing such a good job.
I'll be right over, curiosity is just killing me.:uzi:[winking]Maybe. Only one way to find out.
I don't need a gun. Statistics show less than a .5% chance I'll ever be burglarized, so it's not something I worry about.
per your statistics, i am part of the 0.5%.I don't need a gun. Statistics show less than a .5% chance I'll ever be burglarized, so it's not something I worry about.
Something like 80% of violent crimes involve alcohol and are domestic. So if you want to get murdered, just get drunk with your family a bunch.
(I'm not anti-gun -- just don't understand what everybody is so afraid of)
I feel sorry for those of you that live your life in constant fear.
per your statistics, i am part of the 0.5%.
it's your decision but since that fateful night, i carry on my hip inside and out.
I can’t speak for everyone in this thread, but IMHO, eternal vigilance doesn’t equal living in constant fear.I'll never need a gun in 5 seconds or less. I feel sorry for those of you that live your life in constant fear.

-The likelihood of me having a tire blow out or go completely flat while on the road is very low.......low enough that I don't worry about it. But I still carry a jack, tools, and spare tire.
-I also stock medical supplies in my vehicle and home as well......in case I need them
-I also have food/water supplies in my vehicle and home.....in case the power goes out, ice storms, etc.
i was sitting 12 feet from the back door when the ******* threw an 8lb landscaping rock through the glass door at 2:45am; i was up late watching the commies play ping pong during the olympics. dogs were useless and more shocked than me as i sprung from my chair and chased that son of a ***** back through the busted door. he stepped in and took a pistol from the top of a hutch. pistol always there to shoot the deer that regularly raided my garden. he was too fast for me and i could not catch him.Although, I wasn't at my apartment at the time I too was a victim of burglary back in college.
Hey, man, sorry for your trauma. I totally understand that and sympathize with it.
I appreciate your dedication to being prepared for the worst. However, all of those examples seem like a gigantic false equivalence, but you're certainly within your rights to put those safety nets in place. I have a spare tire too -- I'd argue that a flat tire is universal experience way more likely than encountering a violent criminal.
Again, I'm not anti-gun, I'm just not as concerned about needing one as you all seem.
It doesn't really matter how equivalent they are.

I'd argue that it does. House fires are much more common than intrusions, but I don't find it necessary to cuddle an extinguisher at night. Just differing perspectives, I suppose. Saying "you live in fear" is an unfair, blanket statement for sure. I just don't get it.
