We have a security system but have had a few things stolen around the house and the vehicle was broken into once. Just curious if you guys have one, what kind and if you would buy it again.

If you can afford a moat, that’s what I would do.

If the moat happens to be in your price range, you can probably afford a few sharks with laser beams installed on their heads for added security.

I've just got this 8'x12' sign posted in my front yard...

Working great, so far.

I just have some Blink XTs setup outside. Works fine.

-Caught 2 dudes going thru our rides in our driveway this summer (they hit the whole neighborhood). Thieves were aware of the cameras under the eaves and avoided getting caught straight-on by those, but I have one mounted on the backside of the mailbox column that they didn't see and I got both their faces as they left. Trouble was, they were wearing bandanas. D/L'd the video, took it to police with no problems. Thieves didn't get anything off us and the police couldn't use the video to ID, but said they'd use it in conjunction with any other video submitted. I never heard anything.
From about 25 feet away. Not the best quality, but it works.

-Animals make up 99% of what I see. I get excited every morning when there's a video to watch. Cats fighting, rabbits screwing, mice, dogs, raccoons, skunks looking for food. The best one was a huge moth crawling over the lens in night vision green. Looked like Mothra. I've even seen Christmas decorations go blowing by.

I've added cameras to the original system, so I reckon I'd buy again. Adjusting the sensitivity of each camera takes some time to feel out, but you'll learn the late-night schedules of all your neighbors while you do.

I was looking at the Blink XT2, the Arlo Pro 2 and the Eufy System. Blink seems to be the most affordable. As I mentioned I have a security system inside the house and lets just say if they do I have a few things around the house to stop them but you can't be watching outside all the time. Last year some punk stole a Christmas Light out of the yard. How freaking desperate are you for some crack that you steal a 10 Christmas light but they hit our neighborhood and got several out of yards.

Trail cam's cheap and besides .... it's probably raccoons.

I installed an Arlo Pro system at my mom's house and it has worked well. They are wireless and easy to setup. What's nice is they last for months on a single charge (as long as you don't have them turned to a really high sensitivity and in an area with tons of things constantly moving near them). These are only 720p cameras but the video quality is fine. It's a big jump up in price to get the 1080p cameras in the Pro 2.
