Does 2025 give anyone a 1992-type vibe?

In '92 we were highly-ranked to start the season then Kerry Collins got hurt "playing volleyball," and we struggled out of the gate at Cincinnati. We lost a huge one at home against Miami then, lost the following week lost against an inferior Boston College team. The regular season finished a disappointing 7-5. Since it was our final year as an independent we were locked in to the Blockbuster Bowl because we won 7 games. It appeared that the players did not want to be there that day. IMHO, other than the '84 finale with Pitt the Blockbuster Bowl vs Stanford was the most uninspiring game PSU played under Joe. So livid was Joe following the game that he walked back to the hotel and didn't travel with the team. I just get the feeling 2025 parallels 1992.

After what we saw last Saturday, 7-5 wouldn't be a bad way to end the season. There is a serious problem at linebacker. Every team is going to try to exploit it, and I don't know if the personnel is there to stop it.

The 2025 team never has risen to the level that the 1992 team did before the latter team collapsed after the Miami game. Other than a few good moments against Nevada, this current team has played uninspired, disinterested and lackadaisical football, mostly on offense, all season; it's like they've been in a daze. Maybe one day, some intrepid reporter will get to the bottom of why this team has played so poorly this season, even when the competition except for one team so far has been unbelievably easy.

By the way, I was at the Snow Bowl against ND in 1992 and, despite what had turned into a lost season, that team played their asses off in that game, something about which I have severe doubts that this 2025 team would do.

I believe NIL money has a lot to do with some of the lack of effort and lackadaisical attitude. They are fat and happy because they are getting their guaranteed money, especially for those who will be done with CFB after this season. No incentive to play for potentially more NIL money next year because there is no next year and they will be done with the NIL payment system.

Yet some teams with more NIL going to their players look better …

I get your thinking, and could be. If this was 39 years ago, I’d be thinking we had a 1990 run in us,(started 0-2, but ran off 9 straight including at number 1 ND) to make the playoff, but it doesn’t feel like this team and James Franklin have it in them

Thank God Rojas essentially recruited Campbell himself or there would be absolutely very little D1 talent left at the position ready to play.
