When I see the Ugonna news it's just funny to me. It doesn't surprise me one bit. This all started when Hagans got here. Players lying, getting suspended, sitting out of games, Cal getting held hostage by handlers. Wheeler quit the team in January, Sharpe left the team after saying he'd be back, so did Hegonna transfer. If Oscar transfers it also wouldn't surprise me. This is Kentucky basketball.

It’s a freaking joke, I thought Cal was serious way back in 2013, like everything else he does it’s just talk. It’s been proven he will take whatever embarrassment he has to just to land a commitment.

At some point UK and Mitch HAVE to realize that Cal is destroying everything fun about being a Kentucky basketball fan, right? Right‽‽ I mean, what is one single thing fun or positive about being a fan anymore? It's nothing but disappointment and frustration. I ain't going anywhere, don't get me wrong. I will always love Kentucky basketball. But I'm F'ing sick of Cal's crap!! Give me back my Kentucky basketball, ya jagoff!

We can't care more than the man in charge. And he doesn't seem to care at all.

I know this isn't the intention of the thread. The only way we show we don't care is to stop going to games. Its going to have to take a consistent effort. Just like no one went to the Vandy Game. Which got Joker fired in football. Money talks. Only way to get Cal out after next year.

I think it started in 2016 when Skal the top rated recruit rarely played and seemed happy not to. Then 2017 Vanderbilt and the day to day games.

You’re absolutely right. Wish I could make it happen. Would love to see the look on his face coaching in front of an empty Rupp. Pipe dream I knew.

The drama inside the UK basketball program causes drama on this message board. Think about that for a few…

I haven’t cared since we hired him and I can honestly say that. Sure he’s accomplished some good things, did some great things in the community but Cal has always been a car salesmen his entire career and he never leaves a program standing well. The cal supporters will trash this, I don’t care, facts are facts. He’s a good enough guy and he’s not a failure overall, far from it, but a change is needed because this culture we have now sucks

It won't work. Season ticket holders will go. They paid a lot, I get it, but they'd rather see five more years of craptastic basketball than miss a dozen games. They don't see the investment.

It's the same old crap every year. Bunch of freshmen or transfers, lose big games, flame out in the SEC Tournament, flame out in the NCAA Tournament (if they make it, LOL), practically everyone hits the portal or goes pro, Cal gives a "revenge tour" type speech, more freshmen/transfers commit, etc etc etc. It's getting harder and harder to care with this Groundhog Day BS.

Nope, hard to when CCC doesn't even give a ****. Apathy in full swing. It doesn't even matter anymore regardless who stays, leaves or coming in. As long as Cal is the Head Coach we know how it's all going to end. You come to expect nothing less. I'll start caring again the moment CCC is no longer on the sidelines. I remember a time when I used to get upset losing players that UK needed to retain that either transfer or have no business going pro. Just don't give a damn anymore.

Not really but probably not for the same reasons. The reality is and I promise this is not a pro-Cal statement....as long as we can fill the position with the right guy this is very likely addition by subtraction.

I think Ugo has a high ceiling but what the hell is he going to do to get so much better between April and October that makes us think he can replace Oscar.? At the end of the day he was a Top 40 guy and you have Ware/Dickinson, etc in portal.

Cal needs to go all in this year. I don't need a maybe at the 5....I need a lock.

I agree in premise though...Cal certainly seems to have little control over some of the ongoings over the past couple of years. He is his own worst enemy and needs to steal and stomp on some hearts tbh.

I was unofficially done about 5 years ago
I’m now officially done until CCC is replaced.
See you guys when a change is made.
Running Onyenso off was the last straw

Therein lies the problem. I've heard on podcast that Ugo made a substantial amount of NIL last year. His camp wanted more and promises.

Folks don't want Cal to be held hostage.

Folks don't want Cal to run guys off.

It is a lose lose situation.

The truth of the matter is the vast majority of players these days (damn that sounds old) play for the name on the back of the jersey, not the front. That is not just a UK problem, it is a sport problem.

There is no loyalty in sports and money is now involved in what used to be amateur athletics. The sport is crumbling.

The 2015 year needs to be put to rest by the fans. It's holding back our enjoyment of Kentucky basketball. That was a great season. View it as a great season. Final 4, SEC championship and sec tournament title. Let's get behind this program fully again. Nothing we can do about what happened the last few years. That's in the pasted. We have great players coming in and a new start.

I’ve been enjoying Kentucky basketball since about 1970. You have no right to tell me,or anyone else, what and when to enjoy. I’ll decide on my own. I’m sure I’m not alone. You’re a condescending

I care. I'm saying. Does anyone care when news like this comes out? It's just expected.
I've tried to look at the way things are now.I mean with NIL,it shouldn't be a problem to attract the best to Lexington but then I come full circle and realize that perhaps it's like the old days, players want to play. They don't want to sit.I get it that working hard to improve your game must be done as well by players but reality is,they want to play. Then it also boils down to coaching and system.Calipari plays favorites and it resonates throughout the team. Some get a short leash and others get all the game time they want. Its a turn off and I honestly think it plays a major factor with the mass exodus of transfers we see at UK.
Lastly, word of mouth is a factor as well.Juzang,Hopkins etc..etc...all go elsewhere and thrive. It begs to question...why?

Ugo's handlers MAY have been out of Cal's control.

But I'm tired of him getting recruits, even getting them to reclassify, don't play them, but hype them up, only to leave.

We are changing the roster over every year. Then Cal says "well we are young, be patient." NO - construct a better roster and stop making excuses for your problems, especially when you are making $9 million a year.

I've asked does anybody at UK even give a **** anymore or are those in charge purposely allowing the program to go to hell.
Mitch gave Cal ALL of the power with the HUGE contract with an even BIGGER buyout. So we are stuck with him until he gets tired of all the criticism and quits OR gets off his _SS and turns back into the GO GETTER he was 10 years ago!!!

Cal OWNS Mitch and UK for the foreseeable future. SAD

I think there's a problem on this board where people pay really close attention to UK and don't to any other program so they think our problems are unique. And I don't say this as a defense of Cal, but every program is currently struggling with guys transferring out and a lot of the roster turning over every year. Our transfer numbers over the last four years are basically identical to Kansas, UNC, and Duke. If a kid wants to go hunting for the highest NIL deal, there's really not much you can do.

I agree that the contract is an obstacle but why no accountability or public reprimand of Calipari.Honestly,a public questioning of Calipari by the UK administration would be the embarrassment Cals ego couldn't handle...and throw Barnfart into the equation as well. The same public questioning of his handling of things should also be brought up...question them and make them accountable.

Look bro, every off-season I presume everyone is gone and we're gonna have to rely on inexperienced freshman. If someone or two come back I'll get excited again. Personally I've become beset with apathy. I only venture to this board for the camaraderie with fellow UK fans such as you Richie.

You guys made getting my pacemaker a piece of cake and so many of you wished me well. You all have no idea how much you help me with that and my PTSD.
