Does the Bowl win vindicate Shane Lyons

No. Let’s see what happens next year.

Edit - I take that back. The need to renew his contract when he hadn’t proven anything yet combined with the language of the buyout (being at a price we couldn’t afford for no reason), I’m not sure anything could vindicate Shane Lyons of that terrible decision, regardless of results.

Not even close.

Brown has a lot lot to prove still. He has shown improvement, but his path to 9 wins was much easier than any of his previous years. Another year will tell more. Brown has another offseason to learn and evolve and get things figured out and hopefully he keeps improving.

Shane didn't want NIL. He refused to use it. Yet he gave a .500 coach an extension in his 2nd year with a 20 million dollar buyout.

Shane Lyons didn't understand NIL and neither did anyone else..did you hear Baker say that he doesn't know how much money is in CRT or any other collective?..they aren't allowed to be a part of it

Jesus Christ all bowls are not equal. You think playing on December 16th like Texas Tech did is the same as playing on New Year's Day. I doubt some of the great Players Wvu was able to recruit after the Sugar and Fiesta bowl wins would have come here if we were playing in middle of the road bowl games.

The bowl win vindicates that Shane Lyons was holding back the football program and that this should of been the level reached in Brown’s third year.

We've had talent the entire time despite the NIL. The NIL doesnt drop passes, miss blocks, miss tackles, keep young players on the bench behind lesser talent, play too conservative with a lead, and in general, for the air raid conference, etc, etc. Those are seperate issues. Brown evolved in some of those areas or he wouldnt have had 9 wins even with a softer schedule. The NIL is being handled about as good as anyone we play against right now, so if Brown keeps evolving and improving, the team will follow. It's been a solid offseason in terms of getting talent, so its all on Brown. He literally has 0 excuses this coming season. He really should have already been gone and he knows it. His 9 win season happened only because of the super large buyout that he didnt deserve. I'll get behind him this coming season, but he still has a lot to prove.
