Arkansas in tomorrow’s AP Poll, with UK’s two impressive wins and Arkansas’ loss… And, does UK then move close to the Top 10 with 2 more wins next week?

I believe it is absolutely possible!

We’ll jump Texas, UCLA, and then I’m not sure about Arkansas and A&M. Personally I think we should be in the top 20 for Tuesday’s game.

Not saying it should be held against them but a preseason/early season poll includes things that don’t count as they’re more projections than deserved rankings due to samples. Arkansas has lost two games in the last 10 days or so and didn’t impress in the game they won. They should be behind us imo. A&M probably stays right above us with an anchoring bias to the initial poll.

Obsession with Arkansas? Nah, just asking a hypothetical question since UK is 23rd and looks great, and Arky is 16th, just lost and looks like a bad AAU team!
Arky wasn’t the only team that lost this week. We could have been compared to one of them. Let’s not be obtuse. The arky obsession is real and it makes perfect sense. It will likely be this way until cal moves on or retires.

UK looks great because they haven’t played anyone. Same as UL, until yesterday.

Should move up to 19th with Arkansas, UCLA, Texas, and Texas A&M losing. I don’t think Baylor or UNC falls that far for us to jump them though.

Doubtful as Arkansas made it close against a top 10 team while we played two easier games. Have to beat Duke and we will see a jump.
Gonzaga beat baylor by 40 or so. Not sure where baylor should be ranked.

CBS Sports (Parrish) top 25 and 1 is released daily, reacting to real-time updates and how teams are playing at this moment ... and he doesn't have UK in his top 26. I find that interesting/odd.

Look at the board. So many threads obsessing about calipari and Arkansas near the top.

The Arkansas stuff right now should be fairly understandable. We are thru the first full week of the first season after a coach left UK after belittling the fanbase.

It won’t last till he leaves Arkansas or retires, but our fanbase will definitely be watching and comment if he continues with poor performances/losses due to the same crap coaching that drew the ire of Cats fans for the last half decade.

Considering Cal’s condescending attitude combined with the media acting as if the fanbase was unjustified with higher expectations from a hall of fame coach, it is kinda warranted to hear UK fans feel quite vindicated if he and the Razorbacks flame out.

I grew so tired of hearing national media acting like all Cat fans were championship or bust when it comes to the UK coach. I know there are a few but jobs out there, but to act as if that is the mindset of the fanbase as a whole is a load of crap.

To be in the contender conversation most years?? Absolutely.

To want to fire the coach just because a championship isn’t won every year? Ridiculously wrong

We already leapfrogged them in Kenpom’s estimation. Pretty cleanly. They went from 29 to 35 while we went from 35 to 30.

As far as tomorrow’s AP poll it doesn’t matter much to me. After Tuesday in everybody’s eyes we’ll be a blatantly obvious top 15 team, rising with a crap tonne of momentum. Or we’ll be out or nearly out of the top 25, possessed of a decent amount of potential but struggling to find ourselves as any type of serious contender and with a mountain of work left to do. And I’ll pretty much agree in either case. We’re 56.5 hours from writing our own story. Part one, anyway.

People, please stop with the obsession of Arkansas. That is what inferior programs do (like how UL fans obsess with UK).
I agree, but it’s going to take a while for everyone to forget. Our last 4 years of dealing with Cal’s crap - and it being obvious that he didn’t care anymore - was torture.
Seeing someone else have to deal with it last night and seeing it turn into EXACTLY what we have had to grow used to was, to say the very least, extremely satisfying I’ll admit.
I only watched a little at the start and then turned it back with about 4 minutes to go, but absolutely knew there was zero to very little chance Arky would win that game.
Dribble around and throw up a contested shot and hope it goes in rarely works unless you’ve got John Wall, DeAron Fox or someone similar.
I personally think, from what little I saw, Arkansas will have a tough season. Fland is a pro but if a 3rd year Thiero is carrying you (and Cal is coaching), you’re in trouble!
Still just baffles me the man has coached for 30 years and has no clue on how to teach a team how to simply attack a zone defense 🤣🤣🤣

Plus , most of their team either played or was committed to play here . It’s only natural to watch and talk about how they are doing.

Think any of us expecting a win over dook are foolish. We’re gonna lose(reverse jinx in effect).

It's going to be natural to monitor how Arkansas is doing to compare/contrast against what we have now versus what we had/could have had. People just need to get used to the Arkansas and Cal posts for this season at least.

Yeah I agree. I'm excited for the season and have liked how we've played so far. But the facts are we played some pretty bad teams so far. I won't be making any judgements on this team for a while.

I think people are so happy to have moved onto something different they're throwing caution to the wind and convincing themselves blowout wins against sub-200 Kenpom teams mean something.

At the end of the season we will be ranked ahead of Arkansas, after they lose in the 1st round of the tournament like Calipari teams are known to do & UK advances to at least the Sweet-16, probably the Elite-8.
