Dogs in indoor public spaces. Have we done this?

What is it with people bringing dogs into coffee shops, malls, restaurants, etc.? I am not talking service dogs. I mean dogs. Last night, my wife and I are in Applebee’s to place an order for take-out ( o_O ). A family of four is sitting in the lobby, and one of the kids is holding a small yip-yip dog. I figure they are waiting for their take-out order. Nope. Suddenly, their name is called and they are whisked off to a table. The kid sits at a booth with the dog on her lap. On the plus side, another employee quickly saw this and told the family that dogs are not allowed in the restaurant. They left.

I hate people.

I love my dog. Would never dream of taking her to a restaurant. Like many things in our society, certain privileges afforded to people in need have been taken over and abused by entitled turds.

I agree that this is a ridiculous phenomenon, and I am a dog owner and dog lover. I am seeing dogs in all types of settings lately. A few months ago, somebody brought their dog to our church and it occasionally barked.

We have always had dogs and wouldn’t think of taking him to the restaurant.
our restaurant gets dogs all the time. Now we have the patio which is fine if they sit on the floor. Yoh would be amazed to hear the stories of dogs that that they try to bring in. Smuggle is the word and shock when we say no you can’t bring a non working service dog who remains on the floor into the restaurant.
It is a health department issue. A non trained dirty dog sitting on a seat or in their baby dog carriage which always cracks me up can sit and eat where humans sit and eat. But, people are strange these days when it comes to their pets.

I'm glad they were told no animals allowed. I too wonder why people feel compelled to bring their non-service animals with them to these locations. It bothers me. Rant over.

Our high-school baseball field is located next to our community park, so there's no charge to watch games. I can't believe how many people bring dogs to those games. Last year a kid was bitten by a dog at the game. Dogs are still allowed at the games.

That bite should have changed their policy. Either not dogs or muzzle them at the game.

Seems to me there are more dogs than ever. People are no longer happy with one. Say their dog needs other dogs for company. 🤔 Some say a dog is man’s best friend, but apparently the dog must consider amother dog to be it’s best friend.
I had a dog once and it got old and died. I never felt that it was my best friend.

My parents‘ dogs always told me to go f*ck myself. 😞

Extremely common in restaurants in Europe. See more dogs (well behaved, at feet under table) than kids to be honest. I’ve never seen anyone hold a dog though or have it in the booth/chair when eating.

I don’t know what Bob looks like but my guess is…

My wife and I discussed dogs at restaurants in Europe last night. That immediately came to mind. In the U.S., especially indoors? No.

It was getting out of hand on planes a few years back. They must have tightened up on the rules as I don’t see as many lately.
Or maybe I just don’t see them ‘cause I don’t travel as much. 🙂

They must be flying the planes.

Changing the subject a little, but there was just an article about a guy who was all upset because WalMart wouldn't let him take his "service alligator(!)" inside, although it did look cute in it's dress...
Dogs don't seem so bad after that.

LOL...that would be funny to see. Maybe it was the dog's way of saying "Allelujia."

I love the people who put their dog in a shopping cart at the supermarket- so the next person can put their food where that dogs butt was.

People suck.

This is the worst. My Publix - to their credit - stands for none of this BS. Shirt, shoes, zero pets unless you're blind all strictly enforced.

Sort of like putting your food in that top section of the cart where a baby sat.

Would you prefer a screaming kid running around instead.
