I order the same blades that DSC uses through Dorco. They hold up pretty well and you just order when you need. They're always running some kind of promotion too.

I do the Dollar Shave Club and I really like it. You can get them every month for just 8 bucks for a set of 4 and a handle for the first time. You can change the frequency anytime you want. They have 3 different set ups as far as types of razors. 3 blade, 4 or 5 blade. Also they have something called Carvers shave butter that is awesome. I highly recommend using the Dollar Shave Club.

Glad they are sticking it to Gillette who stuck it to us for years. Gillette is feeling the effects.

I use Harry's and love their blades.(about 2 bucks each.) Their shaving cream is good also , but I use Taylor of old bond street with Harry's blades and get a great shave! I'm guessing DSC is good also just haven't tried it.

I'm a twin blade guy because I find it easier to trim around moustache and shave in general with one. Used Gillette blades for 40+ yrs and now for the last month, have been using the DSC twin blade & handle. Here are my impressions after a month...

1. I get a decent save with the DSC blades but I have to try harder. I find myself going over the same areas multiple times against the grain to get a close shave.

2. The plastic DSC shaver handle is much lighter weight than the Gillette aluminum handle. I feel like the DSC blade sort of bounces off my face and this may be part of the reason I seem to have to work harder to get a close shave.

3. The blade to handle attachment is very flimsy and the blade has come off a few times while shaving.

4. The DSC twin blade cartridge is larger in width and length than the Gillette. This makes it difficult to trim under nose. I find myself grabbing the old Gillette to do this.

5. DSC is super convenient and CHEAP! For this reason I am going to continue this service for another month to see if I can get comfortable with the tradeoffs.

I too still like the old twin blade design over those big/expensive 3-5 blade rigs. You can find Gillette Sensor blades on Amazon for between $1.50 and $2.00 each. That appears to be similar to DSC.

Been with DSC for 3-4 years now, I love it. I use the Mach 3 style (The Executive) that also has the single blade 'trimmer' blade up top.

Yes, they are Dorco razors

No, they are not as 'quality' as a Mach 3 or other premium brand.

But for $8 per month or whatever, I get 4 delivered to my house, and use a brand new blade about every other shave....it's well worth the convenience and never being stuck with a dull blade or having to make a trip out to get overpriced razors.

It's a great service.

Thought it was like shaving with a dull pair of kids scissors. Switched back to Gillette and don't miss it at all.

I don't find Gillette 5-blade heads expensive at all. Each lasts a month+ for me. Back in dual blade days it was change every 4-5 days.

I only shave about every 4-5 days. I'm on my second razor of the year. Both were cheap disposables. Total shaving cost <$3 for the year 2015 so far.

They don't act like it. I saw a pack of 4 Gillette Fusion cartridges yesterday for $19 at Target. You'd think the competition from outside would make them slash prices.

I saw an advertisement for a Gillette Shave Club, so I guess they are trying to take that market. Anyway, I use DSC and have for a couple years. I get the twin blades and I only shave every 4-5 days. It's fine.

Gillette is running ads on Facebook demonstrating how they are actually cheaper than Dollar Shave Club

Been with Gillette Sensor for years. Touchers are expensive and sometimes hard to find in stores. I don't like more than two blades.

I think SAE put it, "they were like shaving with a roll of quarters." Pretty accurate. I stopped last year and had 3 packs of mach 3 and the 5 blade things and just now on my last pack. I only shave like once a week though.

Cool service, mediocre product.

How are you guys shaving so infrequently? I'm not beardy by any means, and I still have to shave every other day.

I use a bladed razor to get a nice clean shave and then use an electric razor for the next 2-3 days after. Then repeat the cycle. You go through a lot less blades that way.

Every two days for me. The problem i have is i only use a razor at max 3 times...and most of the time just 2 shaves. If i have a dull blade i get in grown hairs or bumps.

My razor blades cost about $0.18 each

Per your pictures on your Face site, they don't work very well.

The Mach 3 style is pretty essential for a college baldball imo...can shave my entire head/face in about 3 minutes.

A new DSC blade is perfectly fine...after 1/2 uses, they are indeed pretty ****** -- which doesn't matter, b/c I use a new one basically every time (or every other time) I shave.

The Gillette are sharper, but after shaving my head 2-3 times with them, the strip wears off, they get clogged, and I have use a new blade, at a cost of about $20 per blade. [eyeroll] No thanks.

$8 per month shaving with new blades all/air ftw.

It's all about pre-conditioning for me. If I take the time to wash my face for a full 5 minutes and get the beard ready, I can get a closer shave with a months-old generic brand (which I did this morning) than I can if I barely wash my face before using a Mach 3 that's only been used a couple of times.

I've been using a double edge safety razor for several years.

Once you get past the initial cost of a decent razor and badger hair brush, it's a much cheaper option for a much better shave. At least it has been for me personally. My "go to" blade has been the Israeli made Personna's, and I get a two year supply for right around $20. Some of the imported shave soaps and creams can be a bit pricey, but they last quite awhile and what I save in the cost of the blades more than makes up for it.

Hey bud, don't know who you are, but wet shaving is my domain. K?

Just kidding, of course. It's a far superior product, process, and price.

Agreed.

Off the top of my head, I'm guessing I spend at most $50 to $60 a year on shaving supplies. That's for blades, soaps, creams, aftershave, styptic pencils...whatever. Not sure what the pricing structure for DSC is, but it can't be much...if any...cheaper than that.

Tried the DSC briefly, razors are subpar and I one day dropped one while shaving. Broke the head off and was unusable, so if you go that route be sure to order a backup .

Im a shower shaver, havnt bought any kind of shaving cream in a decade and buy large packs of Mach 3 razors. I dont really like spending $30 on 12 razors, but at the end of the day that will last me a few months and $10/month really isnt that bad. There are other things I waste far more money on.

Those of you that have irritation issues, I would highly suggest trying Dr. Carver's shave butter that the DSC offers. Stuff is really amazing IMO. They also offer an after shave lotion that is really good. I used to dread shaving because of the irritation I would usually get. Just my two cents.

Any experiences or thoughts? TIA.
I get Costco massive pack of Mach 3 Gillette. $50 - 24 blades. I use one blade for about 3 weeks and they stay fine as long as you keep them dry between use. So I would say I spend in a year about what the DSC people do. About $2 a blade. My face smooth as a baby's bottom.

Count me as one of the few in the Electric corner. Go buy a $150-$200 Philips Electric Shaver. It's worth the price. It will last 10+ years, you need a replacement head maybe every 2-3 years.

Not QUITE as close of a shave as old fashioned razor, but it's barely noticeable difference in shave quality, and ZERO difference in the look of the shave. Cheaper in the long run. Shave on the go. No irritation. Again, NO irritation.

Never thought about 'Wet Shaving' until now. Always wondered why my dry blade & dry skin cut my **** all up.

Gonna try warm water and/or cream on my skin and see if this improves.

Thanks Wet Shavers!!! Will let you know if it works better than DRY SHAVING!!!!! #pumped
