Dominant in just basketball or good everywhere

Scenario 1: we are title contenders annually in men's basketball, always in the top 10. Who knows how many titles we win because the tournament is so random and you need luck, but regardless we are the Kentucky of the late 90's or early 2010's. However, we never win more than 2-3 football games a year and all of the other sports are at the bottom of the SEC too. Basically, we put all of our eggs in the Men's basketball basket.

Scenario 2: we are generally a top 25 men's basketball program, not a tier 1 contender but have the ability to maybe sneak into an elite 8 or final 4 every few years. But we also are competitive in the SEC for football (Indiana anyone?) and win 8+ games a year with a real chance of making the CFP every few years. And we remain a top volleyball program and a top 10 woman's basketball program along with the baseball team making the CWS every few years.

What say you?

Don't give a **** about volleyball or anything other than basketball (men's) and football. If you forced me to pick, I would choose to remain an elite basketball program at the expense of football. UKBB is the crown jewel and should be protected at all costs. But, of course, there is no reason we can't have an elite basketball with a good football program.

Honestly, B.

I would trade 10 mediocre years of basketball for one national title in football.

I’m a fan of UK sports in general. I have seen the basketball program reach the highest of highs. I saw the 96 and 98 championships in person. I want football to experience the same joy.

Basketball only UK fans are the definition of frontrunners. Probably likely also claim Alabama or UGA in football and were Bulls fans in the 90s. Frontrunners get on my nerves.

Well we’ve had our 10 years of mediocre basketball so ….we’re owed a national championship in football.lol

Other than The 90s and Cal's early years , basketball hasn't been dominant in my lifetime. College basketball feels like it's been dying a slow death since the one and done rule started. A lot of people don't even pay attention til tourney time. Outside a few pockets, football is the sport in America. March madness is great , but nothing beats a big football game on any given Saturday. BBN deserves a good football team

With a halfway decent AD and athletic department there is no reason Kentucky couldnt continue to be one of the top basketball programs and compete for titles and also work to elevate the football program. Absolutely no reason both couldnt be contenders. Like eveyone else I could care less about any of the other athletic teams. I pull for them but nothing like basketball and football which is what most of the US pulls for.

You made it tough because being almost always a top 25 basketball team means we often have a chance to do some serious damage.

I’d probably still choose option 1 though. No offense to the other teams. I follow them casually and am always happy when they do well but Kentucky basketball is literally the only sport I watch or truly care about.

I'd take #2 for say 4 or 5 years if UK could win a natty. Otherwise I'd have to go #1.
