So Sterling makes insensitive remarks privately but the remarks are made public. Durant does the same thing, but isn’t getting nearly the negative blow back as Sterling. Sterling was forced out of the league. Wonder why the same standards aren’t being applied here? 🤔

Remember when Durant couldn't even do a single rep on the bench press going into the NBA? Now he wants to fight people.

Hmmmm....so you're saying there's a double standard among folks who wanted to do a public hanging of Sterling but have nothng to say about Durant.
Where are all the articles and ESPN shows (I don't watch so they may have) calling for Durant to be suspended?

They did.

So we're comparing an outspoken racist who owned and ran a franchise to a player who called a D-list troll a **********? You can't see the difference?

You don't want to see the difference...

I see the difference. I see plainly. I saw how people jumped all over Drew Brees for what he said but think what Durant said and did is ok. I definitely see the difference.
You shrug one off because want to. Brees was a punk for apologizing. He got canceled quicker than Pitino at Porcini's. But Durant's deal is no big deal huh?

Spare me your little self righteous act.

Youre part of the disease of selective outrage.

This thread is about Donald Sterling. Durant faced plenty of outrage and apologized. No clue what you're getting on about.

They took the one dude's team from him. Durant got fined 50K which is nothing to him. Hardly the same reaction or punishment.
I don't care how little of a clue you have.

What a dolt. Sterling said disgustingly racist **** dude. **** that 60 years ago would even make white people cringe. I know that means nothing to you, but it's not even in the same universe of Durant telling a D-list celebrity to suck a D. Are you mental? You're so wrong on this.

I don't have the time or the crayons to explain to you the difference. How much did Brees get fined for his comments? Since we're doing strawman ****...

I think Drew Brees is awesome btw. And "you'll never leave Harlan alive" is a banger too.

Yeah...you don't. Just like to pretend you're more enlightened. Brees got canceled for being against kneeling for the anthem. Even his wife had to apologize. That you can't see that Durant did much worse than Brees but Brees had to apologize to his teammates for having the audacity to think for himself, but he quickly caved because he's a wimp.
Durant actually said rude, obscene, disgusting stuff. Brees didn't but got in trouble anyway.
Fining Durant 50K was nothng more than a photo op. 50K to him is like a penny. Rappaport is a punk for taking it public too btw. Both of them deserve each other.
Your crayon remark comes from douches like you who think they are smarter than everyone else.

I love how cawood is trying to conveniently sidestep his b.s false equivalence of Donald Sterling saying some outlandishly racist ****, including how he didn’t even want black people to be seen at his games, just outright vile racism, to Kevin Durant’s bitchy spat with Rapaport. And then filling up his diaper crying about how Durant wasn’t cancelled like Sterling. Lol wow...

You cannot compare the two. Sterling was legit racist. Durant is just a self-absorbed wuss of a human.

That dated a latina woman, that he was ok with sleeping with black players as long as she didn't get photo'd publicly ,to embarrass him? seems like a weird racist.....

What Sterling said was :
"It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you're associating with black people." And also, "I'm just saying, in your lousy f******* Instagrams, you don't have to have yourself with, walking with black people." And also, "You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want. The little I ask you is not to promote it on that ... and not to bring them to my games."

So are you seriously going to sit here and tell me that it's not racist to say the below stuff?
  1. You don't want someone to be publicly associating with Blacks
  2. You don't want someone to post pictures of themselves with Blacks
  3. You don't want someone promoting that they hang out with Blacks
  4. You don't want Blacks to come to your games
Of course, let's also not forget that he was twice sued for housing discrimination against minority races, with one of the settlements described by the judge as one of the largest ever for housing discrimination.

Welllll.. not quite. Durant's entire tirade included racism against whites, misogynism, and numerous anti-gay remarks. This wasnt just a one-liner.

The difference though.. is that Sterling is an employer.. and an employer of African americans.. you can't be a racist as an NBA team owner. Sterling had to go, he was an owner. Durant isn't.

But Durants outburst should have been WAAAY more than just 50k. He technically (if we go by the woke/cancel culture playbook) targeted at least 3 groups. He should have been suspended if you ask me..

.. assuming of course, we're sticking with 2021's narrative of free speech. Personally I found Durants text messages funny.

And.. FWIW, Sterling did apologize on several occasions.

But I dont trust any of these "im sorry I got caught saying ****" apologies from Hollywood and such. Not Sterling's. Not Durant's. They knew what they said.

When I tell my friends to eat a dick, I mean it.

There’s a limit to how much players (and owners) can be fined. NBA can’t just pick whatever they want. From what I’ve read, currently $50K is the max a player can be fined by the league.

LOL Durant's rant wasn't "racism against whites" good lord. Specifically point out which part was racist, go ahead. Because he called Rapaport a pale ***** and to get some sun? Get out of here. That's a completely disingenuous and intellectually dishonest argument and you know it.

Durant's comments are in no way comparable to Sterling's racist **** about not wanting African Americans attending his games, or being seen in public with his girlfriend. And he already had a history of discrimination. Quit comparing that to Durant going off on Rapaport for saying he's a ***** and that he wants to meet him out on the street. You're dead wrong.

Oh, okay, well **** I didn't realize that. Guess that makes it all better. Thanks for pointing that out.

Is it too late to call backsies?

Calm down Johnnie Cochran..

I'm just saying Durant said a little bit more than we think. And while maybe he can't be punished more than 50k.. he really should. What Sterling did was wrong and he had to lose his team (as I clearly said).. but when you compare the two: Sterling lost.. what $1,000,000,000 or more? While Durant lost $50,000 and kept his job. Those numbers don't really add up to me... more so, that Durants should be more and I'm fine with the punishment Sterling had to deal with.

What would you say Donald Sterling lost, then, by having to sell his team?
The difference between what he sold it for and the fair market value at the time he sold it. This is assuming he didn’t get fair market value i.e. he was forced to sell it at a discount.

Ok, so is it safe to assume it was more than $50,000?

Also, who knows what the LAC will grow to, as he may have still been the owner in 5 years.

FYI I'm still waiting to hear how it's not racist to tell someone that you don't want them bringing Blacks to a game or that you don't want them promoting, publicly associating, or taking/posting pictures with Blacks.

He can seek alternative investments with his billions that may also grow. Also, potential future growth would/should be factored into his sales price if it was at fmv.
