Be sure to put your flag out and be sure to thank veterans for their service

All sorts of cool freebies for us vets tomorrow. I plan for this day every year. Buffalo Wild Wings, Red Robin, Little Caesars and BJs Brewhouse, to name a few. I'm off tomorrow, gonna indulge like some starved swine and enjoy myself.

It's ok. I already thanked the veterans on Memorial Day.
Agree, we sometimes over do things because of guilt or other reasons. We see this in many other areas with the PC movement. While I do appreciate the sentiment, I did not do it for the praise. I did it because of pride and love for God and country.

My wife's Mamaw passed away recently and my wife inherited the estate. Last weekend I was helping going through the home and the belongings. Came across Papaw's old trunk. He was a (*cough*) "volunteer" (*cough*) medic at Iwo Jima. I spent the weekend reading his letters and accounts from over there. Was it ever powerful....

I never got to meet Papaw, but damn do I have crazy respect for the man.....or any other man/woman that went through stuff like that.

Oh man the letters my grandpa sent my grandma during WW2 were more funny than anything else. Mainly because my grandpa was such an oddball. He served in the Navy and he would seriously write letters like "Dear Gene, today I witnessed a torpedo sink a destroyer. The torpedo cost approximately $35,000 to manufacture and the destroyer was worth nearly $10,000,000"

Wish I could take off today as well. Enjoy it. Happy Veterans Day!

I did it because I needed a job, was a losing at life, and they gave me $4000 signing bonus. Best thing I ever did.
