Don't look now, but Arkansas is averaging 69 ppg through their first three games.

And two of those opponents have included Lipscomb and Troy.

In all seriousness, I think they've got some real issues. Thiero, Knox, and Richmond are redundant players. Fland, Wagner, and Davis are ball-dominant redundant players. Most of these guys can't shoot to save their lives.

I really wish Big Z had stayed with Pope. He looked good last night and would have been perfect for Pope's system.

And soem guys on this board wanted him back. Unreal. That Arkansas team loses by 20-30 to Duke last night.

With just a hint of NIT
I think they need to go with Big Z as the central piece of their offense. He's way too talented to relegate to a supplemental role. Run the offense through him.

It was a mistake for Cal to take DJ with him. Now he's going to feel obligated to play him 30 minutes/game. Plus, DJ cost them positionally when they could have added a legit shooter.

Fland and Davis need to be out there together for 30 to 32 minutes/game.

Reality hasn't even set in for most of their guys, but it will soon. Wagner and Knox are still delusional enough to think that this season is an NBA audition. Both of those guys should settle in and get used to the words, "three-year player."

Yes. Pretty good defensively, but very bad offensively. Their team shooting is very poor … and has been consistently poor.

Your point about the redundancy of his recruits is spot on. He’s going to wear out his welcome mat before non conference play is wrapped.

Agree with you about Big Z really wished he would have stayed. Saw that he scored 19 last night. With his passing skills & his ability to shoot the 3 he would have been an absolute star an All-American in the system that Mark Pope coaches.

Why is nobody showing up to the games?

That's not normally the way it is in Arkansas. What the ****?

I mean they got their new coach and all the five star players and nobody's there?

I'm puzzled on this one.
Strange.

I guess Arky fans don't like going to games they perceive as "automatic wins"

I'm sure it's always been like this the attention just has been dialed up.

I actually like Arkansas fans and always respected their basketball program

I thought / assumed Cal would rediscover passion and a drive once he had new surroundings but --- he may actually be regressing?

I genuinely feel bad for what's unfolding before them

It’s great that cow took DJ as then he can’t be playing here.

Never understood or agreed with this line of thinking. If the man wasn’t driven to coach at Kentucky, with all the resources, support, tradition, and passion for basketball that we have, why the hell would going to a second rate program out in BFE motivate him?

Cal’s in it for the $ and the draft picks. He has admitted it himself, very plainly, several times… as have some of his former players. The man has no desire to actually work anymore. I found it absolutely hilarious the other day when they got a commitment from the latest 5-star kid (can’t remember his name) and the kid said something like “coach Cal holds himself accountable and his players accountable.” I got a great big belly laugh out of that. These kids and their parents or handlers will convince themselves of anything when they see those dollar signs.

We will see if it holds, but they seem to have a good defensive team. Cal hasn’t had a good defensive team since 2019. They will have to make every game a Cal rock right.

Having drive doesn’t make up for his stubbornness and lack of coaching talent.

They look terrible, if Davis gives them 8 a game they will lose 10 games. Z made a huge mistake. He would have thrived here. He could shoot 10 a game if he wanted too. Imagine having him to pull centers out with Carr in the post. We would have 5 out when we wanted.

They all have/had Stockholm Syndrome. I'll bet some even stopped being UK fans when he left and went out and bought some red Arkansas gear. It's amazing how brainwashed some people were.
"Brainwashed" implies that they have a brain...

They have "first-weekend tournament exit" written all over them.

Ironically, they could have desperately used a guy like Brea instead of having three guys who are basically the same player (Davis, Wagner, and Fland).
I can’t believe Wagner is so invisible on the court. I know he’s better than he’s playing now. Cal is ruining that poor kid. Obviously he was over rated. And a little small considered his game relies on driving and not overly athletic but I know he can be better than he has been. He is invisible for them.

Geez, in 37 minutes, Wagner had 0 points, on 0/4 shooting (0/2 from 3). He’s looking like a four year guy who should come off the bench.

It will be great when Knox leaves after accomplishing absolutely nothing.
I know he was bad, didn’t do anything but pass yet still gets 37 minutes. I know they don’t have a bench but still you know Knox and Richmond have to be getting mad they don’t get that run. They didn’t do much to be fair.

If they played any team remotely decent, like a top 75 style team they would have lost. Troy could barely hold onto the ball, Let alone run any offense for a good look. They scored on open layups and dunks the whole game and couldn’t shoot a lick.

Their starting shooting guard is currently 0% from three with over 100 minutes played. Not ideal but if he was someone who was elite at attacking and getting to the line it'd maybe be salvageable. Not the case as he's only got 1 total attempt.

Hard for a team to score points when that's what you're working with
